It is necessary to reduce your powder charges and work back up. I had a primo 41 mag load that I couldn't stop the leading with. Tremendously accurate using AA 5744 of all the damn powders, at the very top end of the load data. I tried to cheat and keep using the max load with a soft gas check and had to hammer the fired cases out of the Redhawk. So I resigned myself to redoing my load workup, but couldn't get the accuracy back. My end result on that project was switching to LBT Soft Blue to split the difference. This was back in the early days before powder coating and all of the black arts and magick I've learned since then for dealing with leading.
