Is RCBS out of the mold business?

I've only one RCBS mould, their 30-180-SP. It had a difficult time casting a .308" bullet, but they exchanged if for one that drops right a .309", and I beagled it to drop at .310", for the 03A3.

I have a few RCBS moulds . 45-200 , 27-130 , 7mm-168 that come to mind right away . I even have a Lachmiller . I can't complain about them other than the 168 that needs to be fatter nosed for 7mm or narrower for the 6.8 . I should probably check it in the 5R 6.8 barrel maybe there's enough leade to do it .....

I agree on the difficulty of casting the little 32 cal RN, only RCBS mold I ever sold. May sell the 38-158-RN. I never use it anymore, I have #358311 in 2cav and 4cav. For some reason I never pick it up anymore.

I learned s long while ago, Never Call on a Monday.

I always drought I wanted the 45-270 SAA mold.

I dearly love my Lyman 454424. I somehow lost my two cav and now only have a single. But it’s not needed in high volume so I’m working with it.

It seems to me that there's a message for us regarding our buying. This could have actually been the end of RCBS moulds, and I'm really guilty of putting mould purchases off because I can always get what I want.

What if?

Good plan, I need to look at what I own in RCBS. There are a couple I've been interested in that I haven't bought yet. Still need to try out their 325(?)gr mold for my .45-70 that I bought right before some medical issues.

The RCBS 6,5mm, 140grs silhouette is a mould that looks interesting. But the nominal caliber is .265, my rifles want .266. A .265 mould would be powder coat only.

One of those RCBS moulds at my house just happens to be a Special Order item from 1992, to fit the East German Makarov that arrived late 1991. 100 grain blunt RN that casts at a fat .365", which is perfect for my .363" Mak throat--one pass through the Lyman .363" H&I die and a squeeze of 50/50, and they are good to go. Bullets tumble free with few hang-ups, which seems to be a feature of RCBS moulds.

Thanks again to Charles for "Taking one for the team".

My RCBS 6.5mm Silhouette casts my alloy at .3655" pretty consistently. The very similar SAECO #264 140 gr casts the same alloy .001" less or .2645".

SAECO on the left/RCBS on the right. I had purchased the SAECO for the longer bearing surface but I had to seat it too deep in the Shilen match barrel Short throat.

You will really like that mold Walks. It's just about all I shoot in the Marlin and Ruger 45 Colts.
