That is what I do but mine doesn’t make a cut that wide. The file cleans it up and makes sure the corners are sharp and 90°.
I do have a tool I ground that makes a flat bottom groove .110 wide but I gave it positive rake and it likes to chatter. I need to grind a new one.

Sure it does. Pull out and move over half a blade, repeat as necessary for width of groove desired. Your tool will probably do it in two plunges. I don't know about you, but I like to step-cut with the parting tool on my little machine, it keeps the chatter down to take smaller bites.

OK, I made 3x of them, slightly different height so that I have some adjustability at the ram side for shorter/longer bullets.

I used this cut-off tool for the grove and of course cutting off the 3x pieces:

Came pretty close to the targets Brad gave me, and I adjusted until I can fit them on my two rams: my custom Mega Press, and my Lee cast:
