Issue with Lee disk drop sticking.

Been having an issue with my Lee disk measure.
It has an issue with sticking in the up position. Then not dropping the powder when and only when I use the double disk kitt. probably a stupid oversight on my part but just can not figure it out.

I have eleven of them and they all work great single or double.

Take the return spring off and work it to see where it's binding. Make a spring remover out of stiff coathanger wire by bending a small hook in one end to grab the spring and a big loop in the other to grab with your hand.

Ps you probably have the screws too tight.

Mitty i just fixed mine. My disk (single) wasn't returning fully after the charge was dropped. My problem was crud that was built up on the outside of the drop tube shaft. With the powder hopper off and the mechanism off of the powder through die. The screw that holds the plate that activates the disk has to be removed to dissasemble all of the lower assemble.
Then just clean the outside of the drop tube. An the inside of the collar that rides up and down on the drop tube.
When you reassemble you have to remember what way the activation plate attaches.
CW when a person only has so much money to work with. You have to make do!

I have a 'feeling' he is trying to run H-110 through it.

I got so few LEE anything type tools I got no advice on how to fix it, other than maybe a 6 or 8lb hammer and the check book.

If it is the newer one it has no spring. It works off a ball chain. I had 2 of the new ones and I ordered the lever and springs for them. The lady at Lee said she sells lots of these as no one likes the chain set up. This is all I use for my pistol needs. But not as bad as their auto-drum. It leaks even with h335 and TAC. But it meters imr4895 like butter.

Apologies for "setting a negative tone".... :embarrassed:

Im not really a LEE Hater. Some products are quite innovative and work great. I have many LEE products. Most are pot metal junk and need to be considered consumables with a definite shelf life. Going in with THAT mind set makes many of there products more palate-able. Others work just fine.

But important "stuff" like powder delivery... I wont intrust to things that can harm me. There are much better products available. You dont NEED a mortgage to attain them. Search forums/ebay and buy used.
Sorry for isues Minty hope ya get it figured out. Again not a pupu on LEE just my experience selling it for over thirty years as seeing dealing with unhappy folks that bought to save $$ only to have to buy what they shoulda bought first time. Kinda ironic if ya think as entire reason for first was to try to save $$...

Bingo, we have a winner. Or 2.

There was some crud in it as @Kevin Stenberg said that was part of it.
But the main problem was I had the screws too tight.

I had I cranked down to keep the H110 from getting out. Yes @fiver H110

So basically I need to keep the screws a little less snug and just live with the fact that I am going to leak about .1 or less, a drop, when running H110.

I have the older one, I bought the new "improved" one and sent it back after one use. Like you, I just did not care for the chain set up. Then went back to the older one and ordered a new hopper, which was all I needed any way.
I only use it for pistol loads myself with the exception of H 335 in . .223.
For now I use dippers, a home made trickled and scale for everything else.

The new ones can be set up with the return spring same as the old ones, in fact the Pro Autodisk measure comes with actuator levers to set them up either way as the spring return system is required to use them on a turret press. The chain system is for progressives.

I like the Lee Safety Scale. I like the vernier scale. I also own an older Lyman and an older Redding scale. They are all very close to each other as far as accuracy goes.

But, I find the Lee is the easiest and fastest to use when measuring weights. It is very easy to slide the vernier scale without disrupting the scale.

The Lee’s one big drawback is it’s inability to weigh more than 100 grains.

For the leakage problem. Not a fix but a bandaid. I had the top cup off of a aresal can. Drill or cut a hole the dia. of the die in the top flat of the cap. Slide the cap on the powder through die cup up. Then screw the powder dispenser on like normal. And start loading.
The cup will catch most of the lost powder. I was amazed how little powder i was loosing. So i just quit using it.

Just looked at the web sight looks like they now only carry the Pro Disc or the Drum measure. Of course They changed the web sight since I have last been there. So maybes I am just not finding my Measure.
The Versions of, and the upgrades to the old standerd look like They are gone. Wel, I guess the Pro Disc is the ultimate upgrade to what I have.
Guess my stuff is outdated now.

I just bought a pro-autodisk upgrade kit a few weeks ago from Midway to upgrade the old rectangular hopper measures. It is the kit that comes with the round hopper, machine screws and brass thumb nuts, and the pullback chain and arm. Well worth 20 bucks to get the silicone wiper system.

I made the mistake of buying a pre used referb Pro. Had no instructions.
Apparently was missing some parts like the spring and the other lever.
I feel so stupid after looking at the videos just now of it being set up and used on a progressive.
I loaded about 50 rounds with it on my turret. Try to figure how to hook the chain without it tangling, run the lever yank the chain, run the lever, yank the chain, try and figure how the chain hooks. Then finally put it back in the box and sent it back for a refund.
Now after second thought I should have used it to upgrade mine. Or just taken the lever and spring off mine for it.
Learn something new every day.
Silicone wiper??????

Mine did not come with the lever to use the spring. I bought 2 of the pro versions and neither did. That was why I said I bought the levers and springs off of Lee. I really like the round hoppers over the old screw ones. That small hole acts like a baffle in all the other powder hoppers out there.

I really like Lee's Pro auto-disk. I now have 4.
the first one (bought in 2006) got used so much, that I wore out the swivel coupler thingy. It was cast with Zinc or some pot metal? and it finally gave out. That's when I ordered a whole new Pro auto-disk kit, and I ordered the parts to fix the old one...it was a simple fix. Since then, I've bought a couple used Pro auto-disk at gunshows. All came with lever and Spring for use on Turret press.
