I spent all afternoon talking to Carrier about some mobile AC parts for a reefer unit. Turns out I had learned and understood more about the system in five minutes just looking at the thing than the entire staff of a Carrier service center could tell me with all the data plate info. Trying to buy a compressor when the yo-yos at Carrier couldn't tell the difference between six different possibilities and didn't even know if they BTU rating mattered (they never thought of it) or number of lines mattered (it has three). Fortunately I 'phoned a friend' who's an AC God and he was able to come to the shop and figure out the BTU rating doing some math on the condenser and evaporator, and confirm it's a 404 system and not R-134a like the stickers plastered all over the compressor, dryer, and evaporator say it is. Now I'm gonna go home and service the transmission on my Toyota, something I can do without having to rely on anyone else's input 'cuz I got my OWN parts and CORRECT Aisin T-IV fluid.

I'm thinking about taking up drinking while I'm doing the yard work.

Drinking . . . All I can think of is why didn't I just rent an apartment. I bought this place knowing it needed some things done and I would be busy and broke for a year, maybe two. It's now 6 1/2 years later, still far too busy and still broke. I started out with a to do list and for 6 1/2 years have been checking things off the list and the damn list is now longer than when I started.

The list is getting longer?

Have you considered divorcing yourself to get a break?

the place is 130 years old and has had several facelifts over the years.
not all of them were done umm with any idea of let's make it look like it should, many of them were more like 'just patch it to fill the hole' and we will fix the inside to look good.

all the wiring is to code and up to date, all the plumbing is now copper, all the appliances are under 5 years old, the roof is metal and only 6 years old, I put new windows in a couple of years back,,,, and it's paid for.
all I need to re-do is the chimney from the roof on up, and it's good to go other than the little add-on's [like some landscaping and a front porch] we want to do here and there.

This place isn't 130 years old, was built in 77. One of the problems I've had is that somebody flipped this house in the not too distant past and it was somebody that should never be allowed near a screwdriver. That plus I've done a lot in over 6 years but keep coming up with new projects. Right now I'm trying to put plans together for a shop building, something always comes up and the money for the something seems to come out of the shop fund. So far no loans, everything's been paid for as I go and I plan to keep it that way.

Worked on a house once that started life as a refrigerator box car, as in foot thick cork walls. Had an "addition' built on both ends. At some point there had been a chimney fire in the center of the house that got into the attic. The "carpenter" who did the repairs after the fire just laid 2x4's along the burnt rafters and nailed them to the 3/4 charcoaled original rafters. I was hired to replace the sofet and facia, which were so rotten I could push a putty knife through. I pulled a 10' piece of facia off with one hand, because the rafter tails were also all burnt, and wouldn't hold a nail. Home owner was actually mad at me when I told him what he really needed. He actually wanted to just put the new material over the burned rafters! Whole place reeked of mold. He actually found somebody to do the work.

Most of the work in hist preservation is,very gently erasing "remuddleing" attempts over the years.Say,removing 6 layers of roofing to get "back" to and replacing original flatlock terne metal, porch roof..... which btw, would've lasted 100+ years before the succession of failed coverups.

Oh,there's been lots of jewels..... one of my favs was an 1836 house with exactly one coat of paint on the interior millwork.Of all things it was the "lot" that reduced the whole property to,might as well be worthless.Image a Rembrandt in a cheapy Target metal frame. This historic time capsule house which, back in the day was a very significant land holding......

It was now in amongst some '80's sorta OK houses but their "lots" came first dangit. The old house lot was about 50' wide and 300' deep. With the house @42' long.Walked away from that one shaking my head.We should've called "Richmond" ( our code for getting the bigdic state pres folks) and at least told them to bring their Kodak's, but didn't.

Oh my goodness, reminds me of the story about the XKE sitting in the driveway....

Absolutely slackjaw, drop dead gorgeous women and their "swishing" pos husbands but that ain't what this post is about.

Fiver,in say...10 words or less, how the phuck did you get banned off the "spell check CB forum"?I really, really don't want details. Just the facts ma'am....

Will say,I got the boot off a woodwackin forum once,well...maybe twice but, never really gave a hoot cause it was soooo minor, figured they were just cleaning house or some thing or other?P.M. me if you have to.

I will say it here.
if you notice Ian got it like the day before.
but I got it for pointing out the narcissism of a [previously banned] member there, and for standing up and not tolerating being called stupid, a liar, and a keyboard commando.
the liar part was about the high speed cast bullet shooting I have done [you know, basically the same groups and load details I have posted in the XCB thread here] I was told I wasn't doing it, it wasn't even possible, and I was lying about it.

when Waco posted a video of him doing it using one of my loads and some of my bullets it started a big fight, and a long thread downgrading and discrediting his accomplishments, many of the disparaging remarks were made in that thread.
they were removed by a moderator, but were quickly replaced by another version of the same thing and things escalated from there.

Wife is explaining what a three parent family is(from a fertility standpoint).... I sorta understand. Your story is easier, the status quo got upset.

My Sig line on the woodpecker story that booted me was."those that say it can't be done, shouldn't interrupt the folks doing it".In anycase, preciate the explanation. BW

I know it's the middle of the week but sometimes stuff just pop's up and I gotta ask.
so I see a story about a second transgender woman getting killed in Dallas, and now I'm completely confused.
is this a woman that is trying to be a man being a woman.
and B. isn't the killer really specializing a bit too much?
I mean how many victims of this kind is the nearly middle aged reclusive above average intelligence white male serial killer type going to find?
it's not like you can just hide in the bushes out by the lake overlook and have them come to you.
maybe the cops need to patrol the 'clubs' and look for that guy wearing the MR. Rogers sweater sitting hunched over at the Bar by himself.

getting in another one early.

I have this thing about trying to do things right, or well anyway.
I watched the weather all week and thought I'd take the wife fishing.
the boat is covered over, the trolling motor and battery and such are all put away because it has been raining every day for a couple of weeks.
I double check the time of day to go, the wind conditions etc, and let her know what time we need to leave so we can get her license, gas, and probably lunch.
it's going to take me about 45 minutes to get the boat ready, hooked up to the truck, and all the gear loaded.
this should be plenty of time for her to put her shoes on and get in the truck [the one and only thing she had to do except cast and reel and sometimes you don't even reel]
but no ,,,,,, siiigh, no.

now I could see it taking a bit longer if it was say 5 or 6 am, and she had to drag all her tackle and pole out and get it ready but it was almost 9 I had all the gear ready to go and we needed to leave around 10.
this put us on the lake at about 11:30 which gave me time to check the wind direction, the water clarity, and how high or low the water was so I could decide where to start fishing, which bait to use and how much weight to put on.
pretty simple in my world.

remember the no part?
I got the boat loaded, hooked up, and the truck started.
she walks out with the boy who has a doctors appointment carrying our 52qt ice chest and his tackle box.
followed by the oldest girl who also has a doctor's appointment 2 bags full of crap and both of the dogs.
all that stuff will not fit in my 2 seat, 14', 30 horsepower boat let alone keep the water from running in over the sides.
did I mention it was 10:30.
so I make the mistake of asking.. what do you think your doing?
I'm going to end with we didn't go.

Fiver, you need to just fish alone.
Maybe take the dog. It listens better?
