Doesn't matter where I am when such things happen that is where it will be cloudy. :(

Isn't that what they call the "blood moon" because the ,moon looks red when the sun is covered?

I'm no astronomer but isn't it when the earth is between the sun and the moon, not when the sun is covered. But yep, the news paper has been calling it a blood moon.

Yes, it is called a Blood Moon.
Rick: hope to hear on the 21st that your luck has changed.

Crystal clear here, quite a surprise. Currently a large bright full moon but the eclipse doesn't start here until 10:41, dunno if I'll stay awake for it but I would bet Winelovers wife Cindy will have some great photos. She's quite the photographer and has some wonderful wildlife and landscape pictures.

Just stepped outside to take a peek, very nearly complete now. Impressive, I usually miss such things for a cloud cover. Moon awhile ago was almost to bright to look at. Not gonna wait it out for the rest, off to rehearse my snoring cause I'm way out of practice.

It was clear (COLD!) and very bright outside until the eclipse started. Had a very clear view of it until the moon was almost completely shaded and now it's quite dark outside. The moon is getting orangish, bit is a lot harder to see.

This is killing my neck. I have to nearly plaster the side of my face to a window and look up to see it but I'm not going out in minus 5F to watch it.

I had to lie down on my flatbed trailer with a pillow, neck couldn't take the strain either after running a hammer drill all day yesterday. It's calm and totally clear here, 38F. It went from almost daylight to dark in an hour. Hopefully people far more qualified and equipped than me will have photos, I settled for just enjoying watching it while I could stand the cold.

Above freezing.....does not cold make.

If it were 38 I'd be getting very excited to get the boat out soon.

Here are a few that Cindy took, last night and this AM. She said she should have used a tripod.

Ian,
That is what sleeping bags are for. I have spent many a night in the high mountains
in Wyoming sleeping under the stars watching satellites go by, and looking at the Milky
Way, and more. In a warm sleeping bag! Lots of stars far from cities at above 11,000 ft.
