Knurling tool for swap

--> THIS ITEM IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE <--

I bought this to try on my CNC lathe. After checking it out I decided not to use it so it is brand new. You have to guide it onto the part which makes it fine for a manual lathe but not good for an automated machine. (We like to keep our hands away when things are moving and turning.) This is the best type of knurling tool for most purposes as all the force is between the wheels and no real force is applied to push the part sideways. You can easily knurl small diameter parts.

It has a 5/8" square shank so if your lathe will take that size tool this should work.

I would like to swap it for a 4 cavity mold of any brand in any of the following:

120-130 gr RN for 9mm (for my HiPower)
380 - 420 gr for .45-70 (for my Marlin 1895)
230-250 gr SWC for .45ACP/AR (for my 625)
158 gr RN for .38/.357

I'll entertain any other offers. I'll pay shipping to you if you pay shipping to me.

I would be all over this if I didn't have one by Knurlcraft that is identical. Works like a charm for me.

Oh Ian, are you paying attention? Anyone else with a lathe?

Knurling is essential but is handy to be able to do . It also adds a cool factor.

I'm paying attention but the biggest thing my tool post will accept is 3/8". The Aloris clone QCTP from LMS might have an insert with 5/8" capability, or ability to be milled for one, thanks for reminding me I need to spend more money....

The only mould I have to trade is a 230-grain .45 SWC 3-cavity brass Accurate mould of my own design (my first mould from Tom, actually) which shoots very well and I'm reluctant to part with even though I made the switch to the Lee TC bullet and powder coat to universalize my bulk ammo manufacturing for six different guns.

Mine only takes an OXA-size, and I'm pretty sure that limits out at 1/2" due to the height of the compound.

Sorry Keith, we tried! Next.......

Got one like OP,works the treat. We do right much knurling on fixture hardware. Another is ground form tooling to put ball ends on 1/8 and 3/16" round rods that get tigged to hex head bolts.3 per head.....they spin very well. For reference, look at the top of the mast on your Starrett or B&S surface gage.....beautiful ball ends.Takes about 10 seconds a cut.Do both ends of the stock, then cut in half.Make a dz or so at a time.

Ian, I think your lathe is too small for this. It would probably work best on a 9" or larger machine. Too bad, I'm sure you would make something neat with it!

I have the AXA QCTP and I think it would fit my setup, I just don't have anything you listed to trade. I'll be able to check more closely when I get back to the shop.
Found a Lee 6 banger for a 45 that's TC with BB; 230gr.; a Ohaus 44 - 405 I used to cast a few bullets for my grandsons 458 Socom.

My toolpost is a Dorian QITP40. Someday I'd like to add a scissor style knurling tool to my tooling inventory, but don't have any moulds I want to let go of and can't justify that purchase at the moment.

Gary is the Ohaus a 44 or 45? I infer it is a nominal 405gr? Would it work in .45-70 in a Marlin 1895? Is it a four cavity?

My bad Keith; it is indeed a 45-405 and casts a very nice bullet. However, it's only a single cavity.
