Lead in 6PPC?

The only person I know that tried this, used a linotype bullet with 5 grains of Bullseye in a .243 Win, 1/2 inch. Everything else was bigger, so he dropped the project. FWIW

Straight 6 Rem in an old 700V shoots bragging groups here in the 1800-2000 fps range.Dacron filled.RCBS 95g,nose bumped, with very little being done to the back half of bullet. One of the first guns I shot with CB's ,just to have fun with.Was/is a 3 on a 1-10 scale to load for.

So Chris what are your intentions,accuracy...speed....hunting?

Not 6PPC. The Grendel likes cast with the NOE 266-125-Gr. Pushing those pills to 2050. Highly accurate.

The 260 Rem is another story. I am gonna try the NOE bullets in this go round. I been trying the RCBS 6.5 SIL bullets in it with no success. Its been a loosing battle. NOE has a new 6.5 mold designed for the Creedmoor that i would love to get my mits on.

Well...I'm after accuracy. I'm having the barrel made now, 26", 1:12 twist in 416 SS, set up for a Savage 12 varminter. I could have gone one step slower in the twist (1:14), and most would have from what I've read. But I figured I'd not want to be limited to just the shortest pills. Most, again from what I've read, push 60 to 70 grain slugs with the 6PPC.

I have no visions of grandeur here, and am not trying to build a rail gun. I just like accurate, repeatable firearms and wanted to try out a Savage "user swap-able barrel rifle". I have other customs but they are on Remington actions. I've never tried a PPC either and we all know the legendary history of the cartridges in target gun circles.

That leads me to the question of "will the PPC like a lead slug, if so, which one and how fast? Just looking for a starting place and figured someone here would have some tidbits of wisdom for me. So, that's what I'm after.

Bama is shooting a 6mm sumthin to some real impressive speeds.
6x45. .223 or 5.56 necmked up to 6mm. A really accurate almost no recoil round. In a bolt no many rounds can match. Brass is inexpensive and very easy to load. Wife shoots. Peal off dots off plates at 350 yards and seldom misses. Even loads her own amo. Grands love it. Pc usually gets 150 to 350 FPS faster than published data. Seems to work well with cast with cast bullets over 105 gr.
