LEE APP Press Experience ?

Read the earlier post on the Lee APP press. Owners have had some time now so wanted to hear experience with sizing brass. I currently use an RCB Jr for all brass sizing. Since 9mm is by far the high volume, I was looking to speed up the process with less case handling. So, owners/users, how does it do and has it held up to the stress ?

For depriming brass before wet tumbling it would be excellent.

Agree Brad, that's a no stress task, but I want it to size and deprime, brass will already have been thru the tumbler. I just finished processing ~2k 9mm and it was a pain on the RCBS.

I tried to get mine to size 9mm. But it is a nogo with some of the brass. A lot of my 9mm I have loaded a bunch of times. The rims are beat up. So I kept tearing the rims off then had to beat the cases out of the die by hitting the deprimer rod. Same with some 223. I gave up and just run the 9mm on a extra Pro1000 press and the 223 are sized on my ABLP.

I am just using the APP to size bullets and to swage brass. These are working outstanding.

I did hear of one other guy getting one, but I haven't heard yea or nay on it's operation, and everyone else I know that reloads much won't take a chance on one.

I'm interested in one for sizing powder coated bullets.
I'm just kind of not liking their sizer choices.

Once someone has a sizer it can be used to make others in the “right” sizes.

yeah I figure a few minutes with some crocus cloth and lapping compound would get me about where I wanted to be.
I'd probably want some of them as they are to pre-size, then powder coat, and would want some for post sizing.
it just looks like it would have a bit more leverage than the stars have, and I don't have to worry about getting lube on the bullets while sizing them.

I too ordered one, along with the mounting platform from Inline Fabrication. My sole intent is to use it for bullet sizing. My question is; can I use my current Lee push thru sizer dies? I have a bunch of them and hate the thought of starting over.

Pretty sure the sizers are specific to that press

When i first saw the shell holder i was concerned that they couldn't hold the base of the case when extracting. Is it posable to use a normal shell holder and take the case out of the shell holder by hand. Yes i know that defeats the process of speed sizing. But at least the cases would be fed into the shell holder.

According to a Q&A on the Lee site, you can use the regular shell holder but they say they improved the process to avoid the problem; remains to be seen.

I watched the second link that Chris posted. Which lead to another link for a Titan video. An they stressed very strongly to use a normal shell holder when FLS any bottle neck case.
