I thought they faded out in like 1948 or so too.
but I had a couple of wooden trays of them I got from my pop's stuff, and I doubt he started reloading at 5 or 6.
[I know he didn't my G-ma would not allow a gun in the house]
so he would have had to have picked them up in the late 60's or so.
I loaded and shot them about 2 years back and had zero issues with them.

I've got a couple of unopened wooden trays of "Western" primers. Got no idea what the look like. Still sealed.

Outpost,
I like that picture of your old M1917 Chamber. The taper is there to see. I can't ever remember trying a ACP case without a clip.
Just Auto Rim and the occasional half moons.

I also have a partial brick of "Western" rifle primers (domed style) in wooden trays...Bought at a gunshow.
I tried using them a few times, and when pushed into a tight primer pocket...or a primer pocket that wasn't thoroughly cleaned :embarrassed:
They would flatten out...not good. So I quit trying to use them up and they sit on the shelf.
I recall seeing a primer arm for one of my older presses, that had a concave post...I'll have to look for that, I hope it wasn't one of the presses I've sold.

My Primers are domed too. My Dad gave them to me back in 1974 when I started my own reloading setup. The Lyman Spartan that I started with came with a flat punch and a concave punch for both small and large. I used 200+ of the old primers in .30-06 cases marked DM-42. Just saved the rest, souvenirs of a bygone era.
