Lee NEW bullet sizing system

I am kinda shocked that Ian hasn’t made a press that holds the Lee does upside down for sizing. Think of a Star with no living capacity but using a Lee die.

Ian?

There's nothing wrong with right-side-up IMO. Use the die case/bullet catcher the die comes in. One bullet every three seconds, gently pushed into the die to be sure it's straight on the punch, is NOT a race or particularly fast if you watch me do it, just efficiency of motion if you have your ergonomics sorted out.

Only issue I have ever had with the red bin Lee ships them is with large diameter flat nose bullets. They tend to stack well and push the bin upwards.
I have considered trying a chunk of large ID flexible tubing mounted on an adapter made to fit the top of the Lee sizer. No more need to empty the bin as bullets feed thru the tube into an awaiting bin.

The Lee sizers are simple to use, simple to make, and amazingly fast. I use the hell out of them. They also are the best method for heavy duty resizing of bullets.

Brad. Someone Makes a 3-D printed gizmo that slides onto the size die that lets the bullets come up out of the die then fall off to the side instead of out the top.

That would work as well. I don’t have a 3D printer but can see where one would be handy.

Doesn't take too many long rifle bullets to move the lee canister. Make a finger out of plastic and glue to the side. Some 2 piece venitian blind pulls are the right size.

efficiency of motion

When lubing bullets, prepping brass or similar repetitive tasks, I lay things out so as to minimize unnecessary motion. It's not a matter of being lazy or in a hurry, it just seems the correct way to do the job.

Here's mine
I did have to fiddle with the part that the red mover piece rides on as there was to much friction and the bullets did not always move far enough to the right. fixed now

Thanks

red slider.jpg

the red piece that moves the bullets or cases from the feed tube to the die. Note the black plastic part that the red slider moves on, that was slightly too wide so I sanded the edges (only where the red part moved) and polished them with 800 grit wet dry paper and some light oil. When this process was complete the red slider moved with minimum friction. My APP press now worked as advertised.

FYI works great sizing powder coated bullets. Alox ( 45 45 10 ) not so well, maybe overnight is not long enough dry time

Did it come with the red parts? Mine were all black. Trying to figure out if LEE changed the type of plastic or what.

Just got a Lee 2020 Catalog in the mail.
Lee has a different bullet sizing system for this press. It's $15.00 For the Mounting body and $12.00 for each sizing die & push rod.
There is also a different Bulge Buster set up. That one is $19.98 and covers only .380, 10mm/40S&W and. 45ACP. Only calibers offered.

I'm sure Mail Order/Internet prices will be cheaper then MSR.

I did see a you tube video of someone using this new APP press with the std bulge buster setup. Didn't seem to work too well.

Probably didn't bother to read the instructions.
