Liberty 45

Felix lube does the same thing with Unique, which was what I used to shoot a lot of in the .45 Colts before switching a few times to other things. Filthy, but accurate. Love the SA .45 ACP revolver, it may seem goofy to some but nobody can argue about how well they shoot or the economics on terms of brsss, powder, or lead. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.

Round 10,000 on steel, camera in one hand, gun in the other, no pressure....;)

I just started my love affair with a Ruger convertible 45. I’ve only had it a few weeks now and am still working up loads. Awesome video as usual Lynn. Here is my new Ruger Bisley.lipsey ruger.png

Always good videos. Equally fine shooting.

My revolvers haven’t seen that much use. Well, maybe the GP 100.

I have got to stop looking at posts/videos of y'all's SAA (mainly Rugers). I've got my handgun needs covered (well except for a Delta Elite 10mm, but that's just something that's a maybe one of these days) I keep seeing those good looking 45's and think I need to get me one of those (for the Grand kids, don't ya know). I've got a little Heritage .22rf that we all like but the only full bore SA I've shot was a Super Blackhawk in .44 Mag that liked to jump right out of my hand. Anyway, Cfreeker that's a fine looking Ruger and good shooting. I enjoyed your video. Maybe one of these days I'll break down and buy one of the GK's one of those. :)

I've wanted a 45 colt SA for decades, just never pulled the trigger so to speak. Lately I've been tossing around the advantages/disadvantages of the Uberti/Taylor vs Ruger Blackhawk. It seems the Blackhawks have lots of problems with throat dia and frame choke that need fixed, while the smaller, lighter SAA clones have better initial reviews. Maybe the I'll catch the wife looking the other way and order one someday

the difference that makes working them over some worth it is the Ruger's mid frame will take another step up in pressure. [from the standard 14-15 up to like 23K]
their full size frames will run up enough to make you want to go right back down again, but have the heft to make the lower loads so easy to handle comfortably and shoot all day long every day if you so choose.

I can shoot that load pain free all day in that sixgun if I curl my little finger under the grip frame. If not the trigger guard beats the knuckle of my middle finger sore in 25 shots.

I have a 4 5/8" Stainless Blackhawk in 45 Colt. With standard issue grips shooting the Scovill 270gr. SWC (actually 285gr) at 1000 fps. it is decidedly uncomfortable to shoot. Drawing blood with the frame rolling up in the web of my hand. My baby finger under the frame doesn't help.…...the stainless gun is heavy too, just doesn't seem to help much, or I am getting to be a wimp in my old age.
I put a set of Altamont checkered grips on it and it helps. Much more comfortable with the 255gr. LEE RF at 900 fps.

I've got Colt SSA clones and Ruger 45 Colts, Rugers are more fun due to the heft. Nice video Lynn.

I've had mine going past 42yrs now. Fitted a Super Blackhawk grip frame to it.
Ruger fitted a max height front sight to it after my Wife's idiot nephew filed down the front sight. That taught me to Never leave any gun "unlocked" since.
Never shoot the ACP cylinder.
And never shot any load or lube that left that much powder residue.

And I have Loved it since the 1st shot.

My 45 Colt has a Bisley steering wheel on it, as does my 44 Magnum. All of my S/As would, if I had my way. Ruger is making a HUGE mistake by collapsing its number of offerings with that option; they should expand it AND offer the modification to existing Single Sixes and Blackhawks as an aftermarket add-on. I would HAPPILY pay to have my existing plow-handles upgraded.

ETA--Bowen wants $700 to do this modification. Their production quality speaks for itself, but $700 is a bit much. Pachmayr Presentation grip sets will suffice for the present.

RW Grip frames. Option of brass, steel or aluminum. Not exactly cheap but very nicely done with options galore. Haven’t ordered any yet but I will once I get more settled in the new house.

Lynn,
Was that range lead the stuff you got from
Kim and I in Bridgeport a few years ago?
Hope all is well.

My convertible is a FA Model 97. I bought it as a .45 Colt only at a good price at Scheel's. Then in a moment of real goofiness, I sent it back to FA and had a .45 acp cylinder fitted to it. I have shot it so little I often wonder why I ever bought it. I'll bet there aren't 300 total rounds through both cylinders. Throats are perfect .451's. Capable of shooting a big raggedy hole at 25 yards.
My shooting passion has really morphed to off hand rifle shooting. I have a Anschutz 1712 spotted but I wanted to take the FA to a gun show or two and flip the coin into the Annie, but now no gun shows.
10,000 rounds is a heck of a milestone.

Yes Sir I had a little left & may have used the last of that 1000 pounds on this batch. Took my little Element a week to get over that trip.

I'm shooting offhand rifle more than ever. I'd love to have a 1712.
