Loading press threads

Has anyone else noticed that some presses have tighter threads for loading dies?
The 45 acp taper crimp die I just finished will not thread into my Redding T7 but easily threads into a toolhead for the Dillon 550B.
My Redding seems to have tighter threads than anything else I own.
I need to get a thread mic or some wires to make sure dies I make for that press will fit.

Edit!
I want to clarify something here. The threads I am having difficulty with were cut by me.
I have NEVER had any difficulty with any die blanks I received from Keith. His blanks are the gold standard to me.

Brad, I have a 7/8-14 tap I would be glad to loan you. I won't tell you we've never made an out of spec part, but we do try to check every part that goes out the door. We cut our threads with a full profile threading tool that generates the proper crest and root radius on the thread. If one of my dies doesn't fit I will gladly replace it. But it might be that your Redding was tapped with a dull tap and that it is binding slightly on the crest of the male die threads, that the part of a tap that tends to wear first. Just give the word and I will have the tap in the mail to you. And I have a set of thread wires I'll be glad to send along with it.

I have a 7/8-14 tap. Never thought to run it thru the press? Weird as I have recut lots of die threads with a 7/8-14 die.
I will try slightly flattening the crest of the threads and see if that helps.

Tap went then with no real problems. Tap is H4.
Die still won’t go in. Seems to hang up after 4-5 threads go in so I thinkI have a burr or something on the threads. Will need to clean them up.

I'd look for high crests, check diam with mic, and dress down slightly with a file if the diam seems a touch too
large, but it may also have been dropped at some point and picked up a dented thread. It doesn't take much,
esp if the male and female are both quality threads rather than loosey-goosey threads.

"Loose" threads on my RCBS Rock Chucker was one the many reasons I decided to make my own press. I drilled, and used an used tap out of Ebay, and still ended up with less wobble in my custom press than on the RCBS. Makes you wonder what they used when they made mine :)

Holes being straight ain't nothing, and I'm not real sure how it would even be done on aboroduction basis. I'm not sure I've ever owned a press that had straight threads, or that the ram was perfectly centered.

I have a Morse 7/8 X 14 tap which I run down in every press. It will clean up the threads and also remove any rust and crap that may have accumulated in the threads. Makes things much easier.

To clean up and uniform the die threads, use a 7/8 X 14 die and run it down the die threads.

I have two,Lyman Orange Crushers..... one,has the...."Heli Coil" type, insert in the top of the press. The other Crusher.... the 7/8-14 threads are run down through the flat spot, milled across the...as cast O frame. As long as my process sees, this die,in this hole....all's good.

Y'all really shouldn't go into this alignment question. Ducati pretty much, slam dunked it. Lyman....may have been there first, however.
