Lockdown Project

While being at home during this lockdown, I decided to upgrade my casting furniture.

I usually grab a card table that I place a piece of plywood on for my casting sessions. I designed and fabricated a dedicated table just for casting.
I started with a simple $28 table from Harbor Freight rated for 1000 lbs. I added a shelf to hold my furnace and PID controller.

The complete setup only weighs 20 lbs and I can easily move it to wherever I decide to work. Only takes up about 2' by 2' for easy storage. The original shelves were heavy cardboard that I replaced with wood.

I have always set my furnace in a cheap baking tray from the dollar store in case I have a catastrophic failure. I had just such a failure this morning, the first time in over 30 years of casting. The bottom screw guide on my LEE nozzle handle got blocked with a piece of lead. The nozzle dumped almost the entire pot of lead before I could correct the problem. Glad I had the pan.
