LOOKING TO BUY ANOTHER MOULD

I load for (4) calibers in 30 cal and I would like a "universal" mould for all. I load .308; 30-06; 300 BO; and 7.62 x 39 (a re-bore of a 300 BO barrel). I've heard a lot about the 310-165-FN-H3; thoughts?
My Tikka T3 30-06 has hard bolt close with anything over .310 so I've been sizing my 311466; 311291 down to .309 after PC'n.

I don't have a clue on the smaller two cases, but for the other two I've got some old leftover 31141 from an old lyman mold, some Accurate 31-165A that fiver sent me to try, and of course the NOE version of the #315 Saeco if you'd want to drop by some time and get them. Also some of the 165 Ranch Dog, but with your tight -06 that might not work so well

Forgot to mention, I have the 311041. Thank you for the kind offer, I'm not much of a hunter, mostly a paper/steel killer. If I can get minute of soda can I'm elated. My post was mainly about procuring another Mould since I got a little Santa money and it's burning a hole in my pocket.
The N.O.E. xcb plain base has caught my eye, plus the 20% sale going on right now. That as well as the fact I loaded some blanks to chamber test and even a sized .309 (311466) @ 2.603 OAL is a tight bolt close in the Tikka 30-06. Ruger .308 will chamber the 311466 just fine. I might need to neck turn the '06' brass, yes/no?
If I'm over your way I might drop in.

If you want a bullet to fit ALL of those calibers with as little muss and fuss, measuring, pontificating, agitating, cogitating, etc. etc. just buy either the MP 311-180 Silhouette or the Hunter that Will linked. Preferably buy both. They hollow-point match jaxketed for a reason. Both hollow point moulds should come with pins to make them solids for casting convenience should you desire.

I'm really enticed by N.O.E. since they're having a year end sale. Any suggestions for N.O.E. moulds? Really concerned about hard bolt close on my Tikka T3.

NOE has tried three times to make a bullet for the BLK and they all have major problems. The last attempt had promise and I gave them a lot of input on the forum for a "Fitzall" powder-coat design, but in the end they were dead set on doing a couple of things against common sense and it still isn't right. You have to watch the noses, for some reason NOE noses come out fat and can be difficult to chamber in rifles with .300" bores that haven't been shot much. This is the case for certain with the Lee copy and the 311-247. The PC version has a nose designed to accommodate the thickness of the powder, but for some reason has the completely wrong throat angle cut on it and no nose support, and the body is .310+ besides. Kind of forgot to make the body undersized at .308" too, for the powder coat...

find an actual copy of the Ed Harris bullet.
one from HM-2, NEI, or an early LEE.

the 140gr bullet I had Josh modify for the final run will work too, but it is strictly a 30 cal bullet and won't do the X39 so easily.
it will feed and chamber but depending on the throat and barrel dimensions [shrug] but I know it works in the other three just fine.

still slapping myself for being so involved with HM-2 and passing on getting one of those molds.
I kind of got used to getting a proto -type to beta test before the final design was cut that I just flat forgot to order a mold.

if you could find a sample of a few bullets I bet Tom would be more than happy to copy it.
I'd be pretty surprised if he didn't have it in his catalogue anyway,
Outpost has drawn up 40-50 different designs over there and could maybe be persuaded to get a drawing copy from Ed to Tom.
that is really an overlooked bullet design that should get a lot more credit than it does.

I like the XCB bullet, but it is maybe a little skinny for your x39, unless you PC. MP has an end-of-the-year 10% discount, by the way. I have both the 312-159 Hunting, and the 311-180-SIL. They shoot very well in my rifles, with no fuss and almost no load development.

Actually the 7.62 x 39 was a rechamber off a 300 B O barrel; XCB would be OK. I'm trying to stay with the N.O.E. line of Moulds because of the discount and my Santa money is being relegated to several small items.

Anybody got the Lyman 311644? That's a little heavier than I want, but I located a two banger LNIB for a fair price and it looks like the Meplat won't be a problem.

I have shot the GC xcb- bullet in one .308, and three 30-06 rifles so far, and accuracy has been good or very good in all of them. I mostly shoot mid-range loads.

Another NOE bullet that has worked in many of my rifles is this (Harris clone)

Maybe it would be more suitable for the BO, and x39, than the XCB? I’m not sure.

Spindrift, I have that NOE 311-158 and it is a stinker, the nose casts a full three thousandths larger than the drawing with straight WW having half a percent tin. It might be ok for a VERY sloppy, worn out SKS or AK but I have no rifles that will chamber it unless the crimp groove is nearly down to the base of the neck. Definitely not suitable for any modern .30-caliber. Maybe I got a bad one? It doesn't look bad and casts beautiful bullets, it's just that I can't use them.

I’m pretty sure MP molds has a year end sale also. I’m not trying to tell you what to do but a lot of times spending a little more up front saves you money in the end.
Starting with a no fuss mold design will save lots of headaches, powder, and primers.

The deal with MP is if he has what you need in stock. If he does, DON'T HESITATE. It might be 3-4 years until he does another run for a group buy and has extras. I waited over five years to get the 311-180 again after his first group buy, multiple broken cherries, oversized gas check shanks, out of alignment cavity cuts, etc. He replaced the defects but I sold the replacement because the shank was too big. The current design is SPOT ON.

doubt AL has any XCB molds kicking around.
every time he makes a run it's gone In 2 weeks it'd probably be sooner but he cuts a lot of the sans gas check cavities.
the one Ben shows would be a good average speed mold over most all the 30 cal rifles and could be used for hunting too.
