I picked up a nice double cavity, Lyman 311410 , a
few days ago for a very reasonable price.
Have not cast with it yet.
I would like to load these in some 30-30 cases
for my 10 yr. old grandson, Trevor.
He will be shooting them in a Ruger # 1, 30-30.
Maybe 4.0 grs. of Tite-Group ? ?
Cheap shooting, no gas check, plain base.

Yrs. ago, I owned a 30 M-1 carbine.
I shot this bullet a good bit.
The bullet shot well as I remember.

I've not used this bullet in a 30-30. I've got two different MP 4 cavity brass molds in this bullet. One is all PB and the other is all GC. Both have all the pins for HP (long & short pins), FP or RN. I got these molds for my 30 carbine Ruger and that's all I've tried them in. Haven't yet even cast with the GC mold, the PB has done everything I've needed with it so far. Only powder used so far is SR 4759, started low, too low actually and worked up to where groups where just starting to come in. That was at the time I escaped CA and haven't resumed the testing here yet.

Here is the 311410 from my Lyman single cavity HP mold before Erik made it a plain base for me. Erik also made a new HP spud for me, the Lyman HP cavity was huge and far too deep. I looked and didn't yet find the pictures from the MP mold.

Good looking bullet should be fine shooting, but I wouldn't load a magazine full that point might be enough to ignite a primer in the magazine.

I like the Lyman 311440 for the 30/30 and its large enough for my 32/20 as well!

I have no doubts, Ben, you’ll have excellent results with that bullet in your beautiful Ruger. I wonder how that bullet would work for low power loads in .308, or .30-06? I have been considering one of the MP options that you have, Rick. But I haven’t bought one, at least yet.

Finally got around to casting with the Lyman 311410 today.
A great casting mould !
Bullets nice and round at .3115"
About perfect for my needs.
Should keep my grandson busy at the range for some time to come.
I won't be hot rodding these.
1,000 fps - 1,200 fps are my plans for this bullet.

Thanks ,

I think if we keep the velocity ceiling low, that we'll be OK.

Man, them are pretty!
I have that mould, and a brace of 30-30s, so I'll be watching to see how it does for you.

The 311410, with the pointed nose is a problem with tubular 30-30's.
However, I've got Ruger # 1 rifles and a Rem 788, 30-30.
Pointed bullets are no issue with those.

That #1 is gorgeous Ben. I didn't even know they made it in a .30-30 until you posted a picture of it. It's the right color for me too.
