Digging about for some Lyman info ..... Walla ! Up pops www.Lymanboats.com It was a big time business !!
There are numerous boats on that site. Not sure how far back it all went but I saw one from the 1950s with a 185 hsp inboard motor. My dad would have sold his 55 T-Bird for that one.
Just never know until ya find out.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Wonderful boats, clinker built, from back in the days of quality American manufacturing. I grew up in a 15' Lyman trolling the St Lawrence for musky.

Lyman and Cruiser's Inc., were old style wood lapstrake boats with genuine varnished Mahogany trim. My Dad had a Cruisers with an old Evinrude. Probably a late 50's model. Most of the old wood lapstrake boats builders changed over to fiberglass or went belly up in the mid 60's. A pity, they were gorgeous seaworthy boats, but they required a lot of maintenance.

I remember dad going through our cabin type replacing all the screws with stainless screws.
Every year redoing the varnish.

My Dad was building an 19'er when he died in '62. Every screw hole drilled with a brace and bit and screws driven with a "Yankee" ratcheting screwdriver. My job was to hold the far end of planks that were going through the jointer (and getting yelled at for not keeping it level) and soaping the bronze screws with "Fels Naptha" soap. White oak frames and stringers, Mahogany planks, trim and interior. Good memories.
