Within the scope of the drift ......

Why a make / break thermostat why not a resistance reostatic rotory switch ? I haven't taken an electric stove apart but it doesn't seem like they have the make or break switches and a hot plate doesn't ..... Maybe the oven does ......... Don't know , again I haven't taken one apart . Seems to me that a regulated fixed but adjustable input would be more stable than an on/off input where it's all or nothing .

Electricity isn't my long suit , I have just enough knowledge to get in way over my head and burn things up .

Just melt the lead out from the spout mounting hole and re-stake or tack back in.. Yes, attaching electronics to anything 800F is stupid.

Danny, obviously I don't know if there is something broken or if the spud (not sure of the proper name) is dirty. But, if you haven't you might try what I had to do. Mine started leaking badly and I took it apart and used copper boy on it the hole and spud and that stopped the leaking. It's working fine (for now).

Considering that they are probably paying $8.50 each total for the complete units in China,
they ought to give you a whole new unit for shipping.

Good reasons to avoid buying the new Chinese junk from either of them.

Glad I have an older, US-made RCBS unit. Has never given me any trouble.

That replacement stem looks like a much better shape to me. Less likely to drip or clog.

That part is for the old Pro Melt. RCBS sent the wrong part but they shipped the right part yesterday. We shall see.
