Major Weather Weirdness

Bret4207

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
RB Harter, firend of mine was telling about his socially/environmentally conscious BIL bragging on the "fair trade" bananas he had acquired through some deal with other like minded zealots. My friend listened to the story of shipping a load of bananas from where ever in South America to northern NY by airplane in winter to fight the corporate greed of the slash and burn world wreckers and then says, "Wow! That's impressive! What do you think the carbon footprint of those bananas is?" ;)

Intermittent rain, yesterday, caught me out and I got drenched in a downpour walking to the car that was at the very far end of the gun store's parking lot. No rain scheduled for today, but it'll be back Saturday through Tuesday.

Yeah, we're in a pattern where it's gonna rain every Saturday.
Kind if a pain. My brothers and buddy's all still work, so Saturdays are our play day.

If you live long enough, you'll notice that the weather "patterns" repeat themselves. I remember a similar bit of "weird weather" when I was a child back in the 1950's. Went from a severe drought to a long period of wet weather.

Hadn't heard that song in years Bill; didya notice how much (almost) movement those white girls made? Far cry from today.

Yeah, Bill--THAT weirdness.

Marie was awake for the morning downpour here--I was OUT, paying off some sleep debt until close to noon. I missed the good part.

I think Soul Train did to TV music show dance steps what digital music media did to recordation--put it in fast forward and into a 3rd dimension.

we didn't get soul train until it's last few years when we got cable tv.

the problem with dancing to that song is it has a good beat but you can't dance to it.
I'd have to give it 2 stars as a dance song, and 5 stars for simile and misleading song lyrics.
odd you'd bring that song up now though I almost bought that album today, but it was in roughish shape,,, aaand they wanted 12$.

Here we go again...
It's Friday night with a forecast 83 degree high for tomorrow, and I am still having to light the woodstove to take the chill off the house in this rain. I used some type if mechanical ignition in conjunction with a computer thingy to get the car running. I'll need it for the drive into Ohio tomorrow. No poof.

Can honestly say I never, ever watched Soul Train. Fat Albert and Sanford and Son was as ethnic as we got. But did I watch Jackie Wilson shake up the stage. But Jackie wasn't selling "booty" or whatever they call it, he was just plain full of energy!

Rainy day here, too.

Big ball of rain with lots of lightning. Doesn't SEEM energetic enough to spawn any
twisters, but hard to be certain this time of year in this part of the country.

Bret,
I am not exactly sure what "Soul Train" even is, I suppose from your comment it is or was a TV show
that I never saw.

Yup, Saturday. Another 4.5" of rain - in 3 hrs. Ever see water flow uphill? 65 mph gusts will do it. I do remember seeing DFW airport surrounded by a moat in late 70s.

Now I remember why I left the 70s there .........
ST was on ABC right behind American Bandstand until 85-86' I think .
Weird time to be a teen 78-85' , Franky Valie , Michael Jackson , Billy Squire , Billy Idol , Ozzy , AC/DC , and Al Yankovich all in the top 40 . Elvis , all 4 Beatles , and Roy Orbison were still a Big thing , and Tommy James and the Shandells were doing sold out shows .......white girls were cool to Rap . Oh and MTV was about the Music ........

Ozzy and AC/DC are still two of my favorite playlists. Roy Orbison gets played a lot, too

Bret--

If you were a jail deputy in the late 1970s, you at least HEARD--if not watched--Soul Train working day watch on Saturdays. We controlled the channels outside the housing units, and the TV better be on the right channel before 2 P.M. or we heard about it. DEPUTY--TIME TO GET ON THE TRAIN!!

And in further news regarding weather weirdness locally.....NWS San Diego is giving a Winter Weather Advisory for Sunday and Monday, to include "light accumulations" of snow in the local mountains. Bret--mind what I say about that cat litter. There is more where that last shipment came from.

It was 91, 100% humid, and thunderstorms all around. Got some light showers this morning and a few drops from the storm edges this afternoon. Tomorrow is going to be sauna-like outside, just perfect for all the brush cutting I have scheduled.
