Bed that Marlin a little farther back right above were the rear open sights should be!You will see a difference.
You are too far out on the barrel!

I have the best luck with leverguns from the bench by holding the forearm with my support hand just like if I were to shoot it standing up, except I put a rest under the back of my hand. No rear bag, just pull the rifle into my shoulder like normal. For extra support, both elbows can be rested on the table.
