I briefly had an 8x57 with a butterknife bolt handle, 4 lever double set triggers, and a German scope with the #1 reticle, only I did not know it was called a #1. I shot one doe with it at about 135 yards late in the day, in late November, pretty grey out. The glass was the clearest brightest glass I ever looked through. Oh, and those set triggers! I actually used the set trigger to shoot the doe. Nosler made the perfect 8m/m bullet with a 180 grain Ballistic tip. I loaded it to 2,300 fps and it behaved splendidly The gentleman I bought it from got seller's remorse and I sold it back to him.

It seems funny to me that I find older/used scopes more appealing to most of the current crop of new offerings. Hope your Weaver meets your needs.
