Midway struck again...

GRR.
I usually have or find sometjing I need every couple Months. Earlier this month it was my Birthday rebates. When I place an order I buy one bar of super hard.
I do this because one time I bought four bars and never received them. TWICE!! Midway re shipped but those too never arrived. Box... EMPTY BOX did. But single bars seem to be OK.
Well I didnt think and knowing I am low, I ordered two bars. After three weeks waiting I realized the issue... another busted open package.
Well it arrived this am. NO LEAD & big hole all taped in box. Midway has already shipped replacement but we need to see if it makes it.

I was talkjng on a live chat Friday with a postman from Missouri he said he finds many bars of lead in his office.

People, most people simply do not package properly for the sometimes VERY ROUGH handling.

Wonder if anyone has a cure or experienced same.

Yep, had it happen to me.

Midway is of the belief that those air-filled bags prevent items from moving about and being damaged. It must be less expensive to replace an item that to package it securely. Maybe Shirley works in shipping, too.

It's happened to me enough times that I don't even look at their web site.
The temptation is now gone. :)
That, and it was eerily coincidental that all the sale items purched seem to be defective in some way.

As of yet I have never had any issue with midway on getting my stuff, but they don’t package certain things as well as they should be. Bullets are one of those things.

Haha. Yes 100%. There was four "pillows" in this box. Two was flat.

The lead pummeled my earmuffs box but thankfully Walkers KNOWS how to pack there product and only damage was to the container that I tossed away.

The lead also pulverised one side of the LEE 6cav mold as well. But the mold is as perfect as LEE can make so no worries there.

Midway was contacted before I left the post office and replacements have already been shipped. I complained about packaging. I explained it was the root of with issue. I also explained it has exactly happened to me before.

I went on to ask for special packing. I was told its done my machine.

Otherwise I have been happy with my purchases.

I understand that proper packaging takes both time and money, but it seems that the practice of proper packaging is becoming rather rare in today’s world. Considering how many products our society now ships all the way to the end user, this situation will likely only get worse as businesses struggle to hold shipping costs down.

The consumer is fighting against a younger generation that doesn’t want to “over package” items out of misplaced environmental concerns. The consumer is also fighting against businesses that are trying to shave every penny they can from their packing and shipping expenses.

I think the only solution is to complain about poor packaging every time it occurs.

When I purchase items from small companies or even individuals, the packaging is almost always excellent.

Proper packaging isn’t a lost art; people know HOW to do it, but some people don’t want TO do it.

The proper packaging materials to ship almost anything are readily available. I get a lot of stuff from ULine but there are a ton of other companies that have the right stuff. Getting people to use it properly is - well - a human and not technical issue...

I agree P&P!!

Just a couple "pillows" and half of those was flat!!
This is second time for lead and fourth or fifth (total) things was damaged/missing.

I ordered small parts once . I had about $35 worth that would have fit nicely in a 5×7 padded envelope It was shipped in a 4×8×16 box and one of the packaging slips for the appropriate 6-40 drill bit was factory sealed but empty with no punctures or tears . It had been sent to them with no contents . I've decided that their packing is done at least in part by some full automated means with no human error beyond part # input and label making .

I quit dealing with Midway years ago. They got really, really stupid with an order of mine. This was after several years of watching them get too big for their own good. Darn shame, too. When I first started reloading, used to get their "Truckload sales" flyers (pre-internet days) and ordered some stuff from them pretty much every month. They started into a slow spiral into the toilet over the years then made me mad enough to quit dealing with them. Not surprised in the least to hear about lack luster service from them.

I’m honestly glad to hear all this, I haven’t personally had any issues with the ( yet) but I’ll absolutely be cautious in the future. Thinking back, I’m glad the Pro Melt 2 I got from them arrived ha

Graf's, Midsouth, Natchez, etc. There are other shows in town which have done better in my experience.

It really is too bad, I used to really like Midway when they were smaller and actually seemed to care, but that's been a long time ago.
Definitely unfortunate to hear, if we’re being honest I really prefer my local shop if they have what I need. They are a family buisness so they definitely charge a couple dollars more than you can find online but I will always support local first. They have managed to stay stocked with powder too, grabbed AA9 and Power Pistol yesterday for my new 10mm
