I just bought a scope and 2 pair of scope rings from MidWay USA.

When did MidWay start shipping things like this for $1.80 ?

Typo? Something seems off.

If that is accurate it is a hell of a deal on shipping.

They had been shipping scopes for free. Possibly I think with a certain dollar/price amount. The dollar eighty could be for the rings.

I also ordered a similar amount on the 26th.
Same or near identical deal on the shipping. ( there was no scope
or any mention of " free shipping " on any of the 5 items that I bought
on the 26th of Dec. )

Ben,
Midway has started using First Class mail for under 13 oz and also Quick post where they ship with a carrier who then hands it off to USPS for delivery
I like it now because you don't get nailed for placing a small order

Neat! I complained to them a few months back that they shipped via FedEx which took
about 6-7 days to go 130 miles. I mentioned that they should go back to USPS since one
of the big reasons that I have liked them for decades is I can order by about 2 pm or so
and get the item the next day in the mailbox about noon.

Maybe I wasn't the only one. AND FedEx cost much MORE, esp for small stuff! Getting poorer
and poorer service from FedEx and UPS, for ever-higher prices, where I used to send everything
via UPS for Christmas, we now use USPS for much less money, and good service, with accurate
tracking. Shipped one of the Wonder Horses from KC to NC, small town, at our PO on
Thursday about noon, they got it Tuesday (two BIG boxes) at 7:19 AM, intact, no damage,
for about $30 total. Happy with USPS these days, was not always the case.

The ups bug that gets me is where they put it in the mail for delivery. Biggest thing is that there's a hub in Reno ,140 miles . It goes in a split truck to Fallon ,70 miles . Then it goes in the mail ......back to Reno then to us ,210 miles and another day out of way.

My last important FedEx? Conway Ar to Springfield Mo to Memphis Tn to Augusta Ga to AL via I10 all the way to Tucson Az where it sat 4 business days then after 9 days in transit 6:45 am Phoenix, Las Vegas, Tonopah and delivered 3:23 pm same day . Now I've made the Tucson drive 5 times and with just 1 gas stop in Kingman Az ,396 miles plus on down to Tucson another 200 miles .....10 hrs is average 9 means you hit every green light ,missed all the slow-me-downs .

USPS is pretty consistent at 48-60 hr from Wisconsin to all but California in Nevada.

Oh YEAH! We had a FedEx shipment, a Christmas present, which FedEx "handed off" to USPS,
allegedly in our town, but our USPS office did not have it for 3 days after FedEx claimed they
had handed it off. We were going to deliver it in person. Still undelivered! GRRR. No more
FedEx, unless required, which some shippers do.

My last two Midway orders were scheduled to take a week to be delivered. Each time, UPS tracking showed it took three days to reach the Bay Area, but then took four days to go the final 125-miles.

I wrote Mr. Potterfield, saying that the items would have fit in a USPS small flat rate box, and been delivered four days sooner with the same shipping cost. Someone other than Mr. Potterfield replied with what I took as a canned answer, and said that they are set up to ship at the lowest possible cost and the fastest delivery time. Well, no, they aren't.

I've mixed feelings about Midway: Usually they have in stock the items I'm looking for, their customer service is excellent, but their pricing is usually higher, and their shipping policy seems no better than the competition.

It pays to shop.

By the way, and for what it's worth, Brownells does not charge an extra delivery fee on back-ordered items. Additionally, Brownells/Sinclair give dealer pricing to C&R holders.

Amazon has been getting a good share of my gun-related orders, recently. With their free two day Prime membership delivery, they often offer the best overall deal.
