Midwest Powders

I have done some orders from them. But not recently.
Before the pandemic they mostly sold pulled bullets and brass cases. I never had a problem back then. Their prices on pulled bullets was getting so close to the price of new bullets it wasn't worth it any more.
In their adds they would never tell exactly what brand of bullets you were getting. Just the weight range & bullet type. But then again i never really tried to find out any specifics.

Looked at a powder chart that lists powder manufacturers and peddlers: Western Powders (Accurate, Ramshot, Norma), Hodgdon (Hodgdon, IMR, Winchester), ADI, Alliant, VV, Shooter's World, General Dynamics (St. Mark's, Valleyfield) Reinmetall (Reload Swiss, SomChem), Eurenco (Bofors, PB Clermont), Ruag (Rottweil), Explosia (Lovex), Nobel Sport (Vectan), etc., and neither MP 680 nor MP689 were to be found.

Midwest Powders is sold out of all their powders, but even if available I'd be very wary. The above chart lists their WC 732 one line below Accurate 2230.

Says its similar to IMR 7828. Start load is 55 w/190 bullet so you'd have a little spillage. New techniques to sell more.

I was wondering how they got 80grs. of anything in an 0-6 case too.

but then I remembered getting close to 50 in the 308 and up close to 60 in the ICL X57 case with some powders, and then I looked at that velocity they were showing with a 165 which raised my eyebrow again.

It is all surplus powder. They are giving it their own name fo it. Lots of the 556 guys like it as some of it is actually their wc844 and wc846

their 223 data was showing a bit high powder amount too, so I'm assuming it's some like Tomme is saying and they are running slower case full type loads.

That "732" data for 5.56 x 45 is dead-on for M855 62 grain ball, assuming its a generic for WC-844. (26.0 grains). GI throats have between .110" to .150" of freebore before the rifling rises up, which is a Rube Goldberg/Weatherby way of running a rifle if you ask me. That is likely the biggest difference between commersh 223 Rem and 5.56 x 45 chambers & throats.

I'm kind of eyeballing them too.
I'd like to see them offer some powders just a little closer to what I normally use though.
