The 30/30 WCF is a superb caliber in the deer woods. EVERY deer I've ever harvested could have been grassed with the 30/30, and 3 of them actually were.

I don't know of a better cast bullet 30 caliber riifle chambering than the 30/30.

Looks awesome and would be a blast in our woods. But... I will be "that guy."

I just can't get a nice high end rifle (NON-Lever gun; High end 30-30 Lever is on another level!) like the #1 in a plain Jane 30-30 caliber. I want it in an 'exotic' or odd caliber, and something I can stretch out and take advantage of its strong action - IF I want to...

And, again, that guy, IF it were mine, I would be sorely tempted to rechamber it in 38-55. Would still prefer a 38-55 in a lever, but would be cool in a #1.

I thought you already had one of those, Ben.
I have one like yours but I had to add a sleeve on the buttstock to bring my cheek up to get my eye in line with the scope. I don’t remember off hand what scope I have on it but I had to get some offset rings to get it to fit.
Your scope is much more appropriate than mine.

That's perfect for deer. If they are too far away for the 30-30- you need to practice getting closer.....
I've never liked heavy guns. To me that is the ideal size for a #1. Call it a 7.62x52R and load ELD bullets in in if you want exotic.

Mine feels heavier than it looks. That’s ok because I don’t walkabout with it. I shoot from a bench or a blind.

The only other stainless No.1 I've seen had a blackish grey laminated stock. Your 30-30 dressed in walnut is a huge step up. I had an acquaintance who had a Ruger No.13. Thats a Ruger number 3 with added No.1 stock furniture. You have to bend the cocking lever to fit the new pistol grip curve but it's worth the effort. His was in 375 Winchester to make it even more lust worthy.
