Greetings
Have a 24 inch 1-9 upper sitting in storage that has been mounted on a Colt Match lower. Shoots well but I desire to get the Colt back to it's real upper and put a dedicated lower on the 24 inch upper this summer.

So my question is .. What stock to put on this new lower ? I want a solid stock that will be well suited for popping yotes , raccoons and groundhogs.
Thank you ! Mike in Peru

Hard to go wrong with a standard A2 stock on the longer barrel uppers, it helps keep the balance correct. If you can find them an A1 stock is a tick shorter than an A2 and will still give a decent balance.

The 1 that fits you and your most common shooting positions.

I have an adjustable stock on mine but Ms and the Girls are barely over 5 ft while I'm 5'9". I've read that the A2 style is a popular choice, be sure if you go adjustable to spend a little more for the anti-rattle . The rattle isn't enough to spook game over 30 yd but it does distract.

That rattle/wiggle also plays hoc with pinpoint aim and follow-through. There's a lot to be said for an A2 buttstock.

The spring ring is more of a distraction to me . It's the release lever rattle that is damped in mine.

I never saw need for anything but an A2. Men were both built for HP competition where nothing else was allowed. Never saw a need to change to anything else.

Thanks everyone.
My Colt is probably the A2 and I was very comfortable with it. Looks like the general idea is to stick to the simplicity of the A2.

So next .. where would you recommend getting one ?

Need just a buttstock or a buffer too?
I have an A2 butt, no tube, but it is OD. My AR came with OD stock and forearm, I swapped them to black when I got a new upper for it.

PM me if interested. I will see if it is totally stripped or has a swivel and butt plate. Been a decade since I even looked at it
