There are really 2 different 410 shotguns--those using 2.5" shells (1/2 oz. of shot) and the 3" shell (11/16 oz. of shot). Night and day difference between the two. If there is a secret to hunting with the small gauges, it is to use the smallest shot size possible for the range of game being sought. Pattern density rules the earth in that venue, and 11/16 oz. of #9s will do the job nicely on doves and quail to 30 yards.
