they also use those numbers to designate the cherry number and who made or re-cut it.

If social engineering is part of the plan for your 45 ACP/AR, there really are no "bad" loads in either caliber. Those WWB 230 grain JHPs (formerly known as "Ranger SXT" loads) do expand in media fairly reliably, though with a 45 caliber pistol bullet that might be Gilding The Lily a bit. It darn sure won't shrink.

If you are fortunate enough to own one of the older Colt or S&W fixed-sight variants in 45 ACP/AR, I can think of no better cast design than Mr. Keith's #452423. Resist the urge to run +P loads in 45 ACP/AR revolvers, diameter does most of the work and Ruger Blackhawks hold up far better to intrepid venturing than do S&Ws or Colts. 825-850 FPS imparted to 225-240 grains is plenty.

N.O.E. makes a GREAT clone of the old Keith #452423. The #453-238-SWC, CWLONGSHOT has a Rumble video of it right now. Really worth watching. ^^^^^^^ Look at post #22.
