I haven’t really had any problems with COL, or the nose being to fat. At least, as far as my understanding on the subject of «fit» goes. Maybe the shorter bullet is more forgiving? It has worked well in my .223, and I have a feeling it might work well in my .222 as well.

Tried a new bullet today, the NOE 225-61, PC & GC. Tried two loads, Vectan Tubal-3000 15-16grs. Both were OK, 16grs was the best today. I’ll have a closer look at this bullet, looks promising.

Repeated a group with the MX-2 PB bullet with PC and Vectan Ba9. Increased the load to 6,6grs. Accuracy was good (about 1MOA), and the holes were rounder than the 6grs group from earlier.

I must say, it’s been a pleasure to own this rifle, so far! At some point, it’s bound for the gunsmith to shorten/thread the barrel. I’ll also mount a recoil pad to lengthen the stock, which is much too short. And maybe a new bedding.

I like the Leupold european scope and the reticle. The posts are, however, a bit to coarse for shooting really small groups.

Last time I took the CZ to the range, I shot some groups with the Magnetospeed mounted. Large goups, partly outside the paper plate... clearly a lot of harmonics going on, in the long skinny 26in barrel. I decided to move on, with the planned modifications:

- shorten barrel to 19»
- thread for suppressor
- thorough bedding job
- extend LOP with spacer plate, and thick recoil pad

I haven’t measured, but I think the total length with supressor is now slightly shorter than the original. I love the balance with the new setup!
I took it to the range today. Cold day, about 0F; not conductive to shooting small groups!

I had 4 rifles with various loads to test, and only shot a few groups with the CZ. The bullet was the excellent NOE225-57 (Mx-2), plain based PC sized .225. The powder was Vectan Ba9, 7,2grs (similar burning rate to Unique).

Due to low morning sun, I couldn’t actualle see my small aiming square, tried to hold in the center of the plate. Accuracy looks good, all things considered.

With a GC. I still always shoot GC designed bullets with a GC. Just dosnet seem right, not to. Its not needed but its designed for the check...

This gun is a early version and barrels are super ridgid so even tho the barrel is thin... its arttached to a 20g tube thats more rigid. It shoots almost single hole at 50 yards. It suffers from a coarse shotgun reticule in its 1-4Leupold so 100 yard are 2"+ but I completely believe its mostly that reticule that covers 4". At 50, I use the "corner" of the reticule and WOW WOW they just pile the bullets. If I just cover with reticule its over a inch. Plenty for my use as a summer Coyote gun shots are ALWAYS close shotgun ranges but every once in a while there is a dog caught sneaking 60-75 yards out between the leaves and I can "snipe" him. The bullet is cast in range scrap I dont remember if I chronod but it has perforated two or three dogs and no bullets found. Along with exits showing expansion.

I had never herd of this bullet before buying last summer in a bunch of molds my buddy bought and we split cost. Down in a VIrginia garage sale.

Happy ta send ya some bullets of ya like to try.

Had forgotten this post, but... Glad it came back up. Finally filled the 222 gap at the gun show cpl weeks ago. Guy I know had a CZ American, very nice, with a Fuji 3-10 scope on it. Haven't shot it yet. Love the set trigger. And the rifle just "fits!" Also, rereading the posts, mine was made in 2012.

The NOE 225-61, GC, is showing a bit of promise with the hotter loads. These are coated bullets.
I`m not to happy with the gas checks I`ve used so far. THey are not flat, and I`m unable to seat them perfectly.
I have, however, recieved a .22 cal checkmaker, and have made a bunch of these bullets, with perfectly seated homemade GCs.

Todays groups were shot with Norma 200, and the commercial checks. Range is 100m. 15- 16 grs, or around there, seems worthy of further exploration.

The Hornets are a personal favorite of mine. During the course of the summer 8 different firearm so chambered will be put to use here. Ones a 17 Hornet (CZ Varmint) and the other 7 are 22 Hornets. Two of these are the CZ rifles. Ones a Mannlicher Stock for woods walking and the others the American with a fixed 12X for gophers. The CZ small Mauser actions in any flavor are really nice rifles. The gophers are up in town around Costco but it's still around three weeks before there up in our shooting areas. Around tax time or the opening for spring bear season these rifles will begin to get a work out.

Yup , it and the .218 Bee were both popular with them because they used so little powder and with proper bullet placement still punched way above their weight . I use that argument every time I try to convince my shooting friends that you don't need a .300M or 7mm Mag to kill a 100 pound Tennessee whitetail at 75 yards . Every time ,, they start talking about bullet drop at 300-400 yards ! You cant even see 100 yards in the woods around here and even field shots around my area are rarely that far. Most of them got a flinch so bad they can't hit anything that far away anyhow. My .243 shoots flat enough at 300 and does not rattle your teeth doing it .

Ever hear the one about making Polar Bears swim using sweet peas ?

Polar bears really like sweet peas . Go out on the ice where the bears have been hanging out and cut a big round hole in the ice . Open a can of sweet peas and gently place them around the hole you cut as close to the edge as you can get them, then go hide .When the bear comes along and is taking a pea you run out right quick and kick him in the ice hole .

Heard that in the third grade about a hundred years ago .
