Shot with a 30-06, load was a Lyman 311290, flat point , solid. Sized .311",
19.5 grs. IMR 4227. Shot was made at 80 yards with the deer standing broad side to Bryan.

Here it is without the flat point pin in place, but I think you can visualize it.
It has a healthy meplat on the end of the bullet.

The deer dropped immediately on the shot. Deer didn't take a step. A fairly large exit hole. The deer weighed 165 - 175.

I wish i could say it was skill but it was pure luck. I will say i am now a huge fan of the 311290 with the flat. It done the job!

Congrats on the nice buck. I would expect them to be dropping their antlers, soon.

Alabama, obviously, has a pretty late gun season. Arkansas Modern Gun was over December 4th. Except for the limited three days after X-mas hunt. Archery goes till the end of this month.

This is the 1st year here in AL that I can remember them extending the season 2 weeks into Feb. for bucks only / no does.

Most likely political pressure .
Insurance companies in this state HATE deer.
