Had mine for a few years and no complaints yet. Haven't fired anything but cast through her so far.

Ruger 1911’s offer far more quality than their price reflects. All that I’ve had the opportunity to shoot have had great triggers and were tightly fit for a factory 1911.

a little different grip [length and diameter] and I could probably get to like that little Sig.

During my visits to the USA I have been able to sample both the 1911A1 and Commander variants built by Ruger. If these could come into Kalifornistan I would have bought one of the Commanders in 45 ACP some time ago.

Is it all Commander based 1911s or just the Ruger variant?

I won’t make you think like a bureaucrat by asking why.

At large, whereabouts unknown.
Mines just a plain-jane M&P 9mm Compact. It was comforting yesterday, and will continue to be so today.

California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
It was/is Ruger's decision to not comply with California's pistol regulations, with the sole exception of their LC 380. Most other manufacturers take a different view and their 1911 variants can be purchased.

Maybe they won’t put the warning that “...the state of California has determined this can cause...”

Needed for CA approval, among other things, a magazine disconnect, loaded chamber indicator, and a newfangled firing pin so it passes 20' drop test on the muzzle without firing. (similar to Series 80 Colt or New Kimber). I think the microstamping of bullet/cartridges went by the wayside.

Most of my carry pistols are of the Commander-style format--full length grip with slightly-shortened barrel length (from the 1911A1's 5") of 4"-4.5". The SIG P-220, P-226, CZ-75, and Glock full-size have this layout.

The Ruger's quality and accuracy impresses me. There are other makes of Colt/Browning clones available in Kalifornistan, but I like the Ruger and especially like Ruger's customer service quality.

My Sig and Simply Rugged leather. Kind of been taking a backseat since I got the Ruger Flattop.
