My Go To Carry Utensil

I made a big switch a couple years back to a set of the "slim" scales. Then realized I also needed the thin enscussion screws to mount them!! :headbang: But once they arrived the result was a completely different feel that I really liked. I have a larger hand. Not quite extra large but larger than large. IT dosent feel small, Just small "er"& I do like it. Plus its slightly flatter on your hip.

Nice!!! I did not realize Colt made the Gold Cup in a commander.
There were 500 blue and 500 stainless made in 1992. They were specials out of the Custom Shop and marked "Custom Edition". I bought this one about 1994 for less than retail when a local shop was closing business. The grips are real African elephant ivory, also from the Custom Shop, the last years they had legal ivory to sell. They cost almost as much as the pistol.

Glad you like it, I do and it is a great shooter with WC's.

This is an older thread but it just caught my attention.

The Ruger SR1911 models are some of my favorite 1911 clones. They are an exceptionally good value and well made. A few of the features that I admire include the plunger tube that is cast as an integral part of the frame and the titanium firing pin.
The plunger tube cannot separate from the frame (or if it does, you have bigger problems). This is one of the many advantages that Ruger has been able to exploit due to their extensive experience with investment casting.
The lightweight titanium firing pin allows for a a high degree of safety without the need for a complex firing pin block.

I suspect the SR1911 would meet the requirements to get on the California pistol roster IF Ruger wanted to play in that sandbox. Ruger has probably come the to the conclusion that they don't need the hassle of California sales. There are other markets and they can likely sell every SR1911 they can manufacture without California.

I suspect you are correct, P&P. Kalifornistan trades HEAVILY in many sales venues on the concept that no company in its right mind will NOT put up with their idiot-wind Kabuki Theater regulatory morass and yield/forfeit 11%-12% of national market share. Ruger did, though.

Glock takes a different pistol tack, then Ruger. Though their Gen 4 and Gen 5 models are not on California's approved rooster, the Gen 3 still qualifies and continues to be produced for the California market. Yippie, skippy!

According to a quick Duckduckgo search, California ranks third, behind Florida and Texas in gun sales with 376,666 sold in 2019.

Boy, I just find a 1911 heavy on my hip without a full size duty gun belt. I usually stick a S&W 642 in a inside the waist band, appendix cross draw holster and forget about it.
Last week I had to travel to a relatively larger metro area and I thought to myself, "If I get dragged outa my truck and start to get beaten, I want the miscreants to roll an ankle on my empty brass." My 1911 has only a 1 round advantage over my Glock 36 so I put a Browning High Power in a Galco Combat Master, a spare mag in a left front pocket, and my beaver tail sap in the tool slot on the right leg of my Dickey's canvas carpenter's shorts. Cinched up my Simply Rugged 2" pants belt and made the best of it. I wore that all day and while I was glad to be unburdened when I got home 11 hours later, it wasn't terrible.

45 Summer carry here too.... Only mine is launched from a Shield45. ;)

Thin light and comfortable even into the 100 temps inside pants. Awesome consealing in a untucked T shirt when needed.

Shoots as well as any carry gun I ever had and better then many. Its no 1911, but Im also not woried about any bad that might befall it being carried.
