My MP 357 Penta Point Mould

I've been outside casting with my new mould this morning.
WOW !! I love it.
You can " rain " HP bullets with this mould.
Might be 10% slower than a conventional 2 cavity mould that makes solids.
I experienced zero tendency of the nose of the bullet to stick on the Penta Point pins. The mould is everything that I hoped that it would be.

Is your alloy WW + some tin? Those look really good. The penta pin cavities have a tendency to get a big, off-center bubble at the bottom if the temps aren't just right, and you nailed it. Good job!

Yes, that was exactly what I was using.
Seems to be working out well here on my end of things.
I was running everything pretty HOT ! !

Thanks,
Ben

Ben's photographic quality might be the element I missed most during my site absence. Exemplary work, Ben.

This is a very interesting blend of Keith and Thompson attributes to a 38/357 bullet design. I am not a fan of HP casting, but the bullet design is sound. I have yet to buy or use an MP mould--this one could prompt me to get on board.

MP makes a very nice mould. His HP setup is easy and effective. I keep the sliding pins well lubed and the mould hot.

Nice bullets Ben

Allen,

This mould came with 3 sets of HP pins, 1 of which will make solids.
If I want to cast solids, it takes about 5 minutes to change out the pins and I can then make solids.

By the way, I am thrilled that you are back on the forum with all of us !!!!!!!!

Thank you, gentlemen. It feels like I've arrived back at home.

OK, Ben--that helps decipher the info on the MP site that I was looking at earlier. I need to re-visit and look at the info in more-focused fashion. I have never used a brass mould, either. Are the MP moulds specific to MP handles, or will RCBS or SAECO handles work?

Yes, like Brad, I used Lee Handles today during my casting session with the MP HP mould, worked just fine.

Brass ........UUUmmmm HEAVY. However, the mould makes some very nice bullets

I think I'll cancel my membership to the gym and just cast with this mould everyday.

Ben, you better get a left-handed ladle and start switching off or else you'll have one arm like Popeye!

The 4C Accurate brass moulds mounted on a set of Lee commercial handles will wear a person right out too.

Wow Ben, after looking at all those nice bullets you just cast, I sure realize I was not experienced enough back when I got my mold from Mehec to use a brass hp mould correctly! Mine never looked that good.....now I sort of wish I had it back to give it another chance

JW,

If I made a list of the " I wish I had that back ", the rifles, handguns, scopes , bullet moulds, etc that I sold / traded would be a VERY LONG list. I know exactly what you're saying.

IME the pentapont 45 opens very nicely, too.
I cut the sprue, flip the mold and open it, leaves the bullets just sitting on their bases.
Miha is a treasure to the cast bullet hobby.
