My new 1903a3 to go with my new Accurate mold

I got the mold about a week ago and cast a quick 400 of them. So I dug my 1903a3 out of the safe that I acquired about 2 months ago. It will be another week before I get to the range but I’m looking and hoping for great results. It is Greek return that is nice and tight with a bore like a mirror. Looks like it has not been shot all that much. Wish me luck!

Good luck!

BTW your workbench is disgustingly clean and organized, how do you get anything done there?

My 03a3 is a typewriter gun ... Great original barrel, and got it from Anniston during the Greek returns. Super fun to plink.

Looking at load dev for the 200 yd match. At you gas checking the boolits?

That is a fine looking 03A3 ! The 03 sure is an iconic symbol of what one country did to keep the rest of the world free.

After carrying one of those for 3 mo. in boot camp (and cleaning with Lousianna hot sauce) I have no interest. But it is a nice looking rifle.

The 1903A3 is a favorite rifle of mine, having put thousands of rounds through my DCM rifle when they sold for less than $20.00. The rifle became like an extension of me and I could almost wish the bullet to the target. I got my current Remington 4 groove as a gift in the mid-80s. It was an Ogden Arsenal rebuilt and was unfired when it came to me. It has been an ROTC rifle and the firing pin tip was ground off and the firing pin hole in the bolt face welded. I picked up a new bolt for $3.00 at a gun show along with a new firing pin tip. The new bolt headspaced perfectly and I was off to the races. With loads it likes, is is a 1.75 MOA rifle on good days and a 2.0 MOA rifle on any day.

The Remington 03A3 is still the rifle to beat at any CBA military rifle match for Issue class. And they do very well in the Modified Iron sight and Modified Scoped classes also. From 1996 through 2017 I was putting about 4000 rounds a year through my Springfields shooting matches and practicing.

I think the 03a3 is one of the most handsome rifles ever built. When I was working in a gun store in the early 70’s we would have 4 or 5 on the rack all the time along with a couple of the 1922m2 22LR too. All less than a $100 each. Those were the days!
