My new 45/70 barrel

Definitely Bullseye. You want the pressure to drop off as fast as possible after the bullet gets in the barrel so it won't stay "slugged up" in the bore and wear the wrong end.

Well it went from some work to a lot more work.. Today I tried to fit the new barrel to my 2 frames. No go on either one.
So I have to go to Graybeards and see what I have to do to fit the new barrel.
Just like outside. First it rains then it snows. Mama meea!

If it's too tight you're in business, it's a matter of stoning the lug cut-out until the barrel will clear the breech face just enough to close . If it closes all the way but doesn't latch fully you work the barrel lock tab with soot and a stone. If it's too loose, some people shim the pin, but I'm not a huge fan of that myself.

I have already been on Graybeards and been reading the FAQ's So as soon as I can gather the tools needed I start stoning the lug. Ian yes I have the problem of not being able to close the barrel fully into the frame.
