So, time for the 6,5x55 semi- heavy Varberger barrel to show its teeth. 22F, fresh snow on the ground, sunshine, no wind. A beautiful winter morning! My new barrel seems to like the Arsenal moulds 266- 92gc. In fact, my other two 6,5- rifles like it as well. In my other rifles, 15grs N110 is the «sweet spot», while 16 grs is beyond the wall. Shot some groups with 15grs, they were OK (1,5MOA 5- shot groups @100M, prone position/bag). Then 15,5 and 16grs, just to see how the bullet tolerated that level. 16 grs turned out great. Had a flier. I was fighting some mirage at this time, so don`t know if it was me. (The two overlapping icons are actually three hits, so 4 shots about 1/2MOA, and the flier opening up a little to about 1MOA)
I also tried N120, which I have never tried with this light bullet. I tried 18 grs, which was my guesstimated pressure- equivalent to my former «15grs N110» sweet spot. Not bad at all, but maybe I can up the charge a little
These bullets were with what I`d call «minor imperfections». Many of them had a little mould seams, and they were not perfectly balanced. I`m working on my casting skills these days, trying to cast better bullets. These were cast by my «former self»
This barrel is still new. No jacketed bullets through it, yet. I tihink I´ll get a lot of fun out of this!
