My new toy 9mm Carbine

Today i picked up my new Hi-Point carbine. It still will not win a beauty pageant. But when it comes to getting down and dirty. Reliability trumps everything.
The only problem i had was with the first 3 rounds that were fed from the Magazine. If the cases are not tight to the back face of the mag. The bullet dives point down into the mag which jams the action. But if the cases are properly in the mag everything runs fine. The next 3 mags ran without a hitch.
So far i just ventilated a couple of dead trees in the yard. More to come when i get out again. Kevin

Slap the loaded mag on your leg to orient the cartriges. Word is the ProMag copies are garbage but I read that on the internet so it ain't worth much. Those ugly things are accurate, reliable, durable, and a whole lot of fun, enjoy!

I haven't shot a zillion rounds in the 945 but the 3-400 that I have , have run fine out the 14 round Pro Mags and a 9 round factory .

If they would have made their .45 to use Glock magazines, I would have bought one. But their proprietary
9 rd mag , with the only option the marginal, cheapo ProMags :headscratch:..... not interested. I wish Ruger had one of theirs
in .45 using various high capacity mags.

Bill, just buy an AR lower made for Glock mags and top it with a RWS or Macon DI gas upper. Problem solved, except you'll then want to SBR it and suppress it!

Good grief. over $1K for just the upper assembly? I don't think I am actually
that interested.

I paid $1100 for mine, cheaper than a Reising 50. A DI AR is the only convenient way I know of to get a locking breech carbine, and you'll want a locked breech with the suppressor. If you want, I can instruct you on how those companies build an upper, it wouldn't be difficult at all with a .45-caliber barrel blank and standard receiver extension.

My .45 ACP AR has a lower that uses unaltered Grease Gun mags, lots of fun. I have had this for some time. If I was doing it now I would just get the glock mag lower.

My 9mm AR uses regular glock mags. I won it off a prize table a few years ago. It had a special paint job that had the match logo incorporated into it and since it was free I wasn't complaining.

I want a lower that uses Thompson magazines :)

Intel6, that looks like a DI upper for your .45, is that an RWS?

My wife shooting my 9 mm long rimmed rifle. It is a DI system as your finger impinge the lever directly, no gas involved.
It does like a fat 9mm bullet, right around .358.

I will see if I can find a photo of my Marlin 1894C. It isn’t black but with that short barrel it is ugly. Shoots ugly too.

No, I wish it was, just a regular blowback upper. I built this way back before those were even a thing. I don't mind the blowback for the .45 ACP but would like a DI upper in 10mm now that I can get a large frame Glock lower and use Glock 20 mags.

I have seen guy try the Thompson mags but that rail thing on the back of the mag always causes problems. I had a bag of GG mags laying around from my Army days and started with one of those Cav Arms lowers and a mag block. It worked well but I upgraded the lower when they became more common. It has been in this configuration for 8+ years, way before the advent of the glock mag lowers.

I stuck a pic of it in its original configuration with the Cav Arms lower at the bottom.

Interesting ideas, all. I think I'll leave this one to simmer for a while. Too many other projects
to start from scratch now. Gotta finish some other stuff first.
