Anyone buy from them?
Bad , Good , Better , Best?
They have 4895 powder in stock ( which I need) but have never bought from them before.
Would BLC-2 be a better buy for 30/06 and 308 than 4895?

Good. Bought black powder from them a year or so ago on sale, used to buy a lot more from them but Powder Valley would ship primers and powder together for one hazmat fee so I tend to use them for most stuff. Bought moulds, brass, and other stuff from Natchez over the years, good company IME.

Natchez has combined powder and primers in one shipment for me in the past with one hazmat fee. That was a long time ago. I don't know if they still will do that.

IMR/H4895, for Garand & M1A.
BLC-2 is a bit fast for My bolt action .30-06 loads.
I like to wring out every bit of velocity I can with J's.
I've had better accuracy in M1917, 03A3 & REM 700 with H4895 for Cast.

Natchez, good folks. Got a great deal on scopes a few years back.

I far prefer IMR anything to the H version.
wouldn't have said that 20 years ago, but have come to really favor the IMR powders the last few years.
[to clarify I use both 'types' of 4831 I like the the short cut H-type and don't really have a favorite of the two]

For years, I dealt with Natchez, not so much any more. Now, it's mostly on sale items or something only they have in stock. Never cared for their handling fee. Can do better, most of the time, shopping around. I have bought power from them...........when they are running a promotion like free HazMat and or shipping. Usually, Powder Valley is cheaper. Natchez tends to ship late...........if you're in a hurry.

I’ve always purchased from Natchez . I actually prefer to order from them as long as it’s not a small order.
As others have mentioned their shipping can be pretty expensive. I find that there products are usually cheaper though.

I think they were why I bought my first NOE .
The price on the 27-130 FP was the best I'd found but by the time I got the shipping on the ticket it only cost me $15 more for a 5C NOE . In hindsight as it turns the mould choice wasn't the best one I ever made but it has paid dividends back .

Shipping was my biggest thing with them on several occasions I've built carts from 2-3 places and shipping costs have killed an otherwise great deal on tools and parts . Often by a lot .

I use to order a lot...I mean a lot...from many sources.
It seems I don't need to order much anymore, so my advice may be a bit dated...but here goes...

I placed many orders with Natchez, while their shipping fees were always higher than others, they had the best cumulative prices on the items I wanted to order, as well as having all the items I needed in stock, so, as long as the order was large enough, the high price of shipping and handling was spread out enough on the many items of an order to make it the best deal around.
BUT...I been disappointed a few times with the shipping/packing department. Poorly packed boxes where items would slosh around and get damaged...well nobody likes that.

I have ordered items from Midsouth, and opening boxes from them is memorable, it's like they are packing stuff that will be on a rough ride to the Moon. I've learned if I am ordering a random mix of items, Midsouth is the way to go, because saving a few pennies is never worth a poor packing job. If you are ordering one item or a "case" of an item, then it doesn't really matter who ships it out.

I've ordered plastic ammo boxes where several of them were cracked.
Catch is.............the shipping box didn't show any signs of rough treatment.

I believe they were cracked when they were packaged by MidWay employees.

having worked at UPS a few times in my past, I wouldn't blame the packer at the company.
there is a definite proper way to stack items in a trailer, and there is an 'it's in there send it' way that gets items down the road.
you'd be surprised how many light boxes get tossed or kicked most of the way down a 53' trailer only to find themselves on the bottom of a larger pile of goods many of them quite often weighing 70-80 lbs. per package.

I had the exact same thing happen to me Ben. More hassle to return it than it was worth. I'm betting they know that too.
