Sounds good, but I will start with a 0.125 flat 4130 plate....so, gotta hit the middle with the
drill.

Thanks, I enjoy fiddling. I would starve making things for other people, but enjoy it for
myself. Learning and have exactly what I want when I am done....if I am ever done.

OK.- good news on the 1985 recall. It is THE box, and ....well, take a look.

624 box end w-o SN small.jpg
I blacked out the digits of the SN in this image, NOT on the box, it is the correct SN, the original box, and I see a big, red "C",
so it has been back and passed the factory check. Good news, and thanks to all the previous owners for preserving
and passing on the original box with this important info. :)
Which should have been marked on the gun by S&W, not just on the box.

Bill,

My 624's factory front sight is .275" high. Hope this helps.

Thanks.
Always useful, but only Mr. Target knows the REAL answers, including how tall the front sight should be.:)

I get .272 measuring the round topped one that is on it. I may make the new sight a bit taller.
The heavy bullet loads I shot this afternoon were going way high, so I don't want to run out of
down adjustment. I will shoot it black for a while before I put in the FO, so I can shorten it if I
need to. That is one issue with FO front sights, you cannot file them down of it shoots too low,
or you run into the FO, and wreck it.
