watch those saeco molds.
the newer ones will usually just squeak in to the size you expect, and I mean just barely.
my 358 mold has just barely enough 358 diameter on the part lines to crimp the check in place in my 358 die.
it shoots like a champ though so I'm not complaining.

Ben, I also bought the 173 NOE single cav 7mm.
Cast same over the weekend. Average weight on
mine runs 186gr. Loaded 20 over the weekend in
7Rem, over RX7. Hope to get to range this week
to test them out.

Paul,

I have not shot mine yet.
I'd be interested in knowing how yours shoot.

Shot 20 this a.m. Ben, over 33 gr of Rx7, Rem 700,
7Rem Mag. A very accurate rifle normally. Was very
disappointed. Shot 5 ea 5 shot groups, two of which
were patterns, the other two were about 2" groups,
Was looking for Vol of between 1800-2000 area.
Recoil quite noticeable. Am thinking of trying min
loads for jacketed of 4831. Will try this bullet in
7x57 when I get around to it.

UUmmmm, it is early, but that doesn't sound too promising.
I have some loaded and will be shooting them this week in my 7X57.

That bullet is like 2/3 bore-rider and is probably looking to yaw into any groove it can instead of go straight. A softer boot should help, as would a harder alloy because the narrow lands of most modern barrels offer very little in the way of keeping the bullet headed straight. If the nose tuns and digs in, the bullet will do the loop-de-loop thing through the air, and speed plus distance makes the dispersion exponentially worse. The velocity and alloy limitation is why I'm not a big fan of bore-riding bullet designs.

Anyone ever notice that there are virtually no bore-riding jacketed bullet designs?

not too many.
the gp-11 and the original 264 win mags used them.
they also held tolerances to about zero though.

Will slow down next loading, and also load it
in some 7x57. Tis a great looking bullet.

Well Ben, I shot it again this Morn with the 172NOE. over 16 gr of
Unique. It shot very well, At 50 yds, it shot a 4 SHOT group into .575, and
then I bobbled one out to 1.75. Now I need to find a deer load that
will get up around 1800-2000 FPS. Any recommendations?

I'm not certain of the speed you'll get, but try 16.5 grs. of 2400.
With that particular bullet style, I can assure you there is no deer that can take a lick with that one and live to tell about it.

try 30-31 grs of 4198 or 31-32 grs of 4895.
the 4895 might be position/ignition sensitive, dropping back to 30 with a tuft of Dacron would probably be a good idea.
