New 9 mm mold coming

Well my first expansion attempt with the new NOE 9 mm HP mold wasn't a total failure but it wasn't what I was after either, I was using my 50/50 pure lead / COWW alloy powder coating and allow the bullets to air cool. I got more distortion and some instances of minor fragmentation but not the degree of expansion I wanted so I soften up my mix using two parts pure lead, one part COWW and a pinch of tin. I think it's a good start.

That does not look to far off. Its a good mushroom with little shedding of material.
You can go softer if your velocity is tapped out or you could turn up the speed just a touch. Either way should get there in short order.

I have the two slugs out in my shop and I will weigh them today and see what my weight retention is an report back. I don't believe I lost much if anything noticeable. I can go up on the powder charge I used with that load a couple tenths or switch powders altogether and get more velocity. Just more things to tinker with but thats what I enjoy doing.

you really can't have both a lot of expansion and a lot of penetration with only 125grs of mass.
the only real way to get there is to open the petals [which you don't have] back and over themselves to limit the frontal area.

It feeds well in my 357 Sig's and Super. Should preform well. ( Blue is a LEE 358-125)

CW I have that exact same bullet in a hp configuration and it shoots wonderful!!
It also vaporizes vermin of any flavor!
It’s my go to in 9, 38, 357 for my speedy go fast stuff.
Mine is a gc shank.
I have shot it tumble lubed and pc’d with great results both ways.
