New molds

The other day, I picked up a package form NOE- the results of the 10th anniversary discount :)
225-57-FN, and 225-61-FN, both 3 cavity molds. This is for the .223 rem barrel of a switch barrel boltgun.
And the 266-126 (2 cavity, PB/GC), and the 268-140, also 2- cavity. These are for my 6,5x55 barrels. It will be my first PB-bullet for the 6,5.

Wiped the molds with acetone (probably unnecessary, they were quite clean), tokk them through a couple of heat cycles in my toaster oven, and started casting. They all behaved very well, and started producing nice bullets very quickly.
The .22 cal 3-cavity molds seem to be cut from the same blocks as .30- cal 2-cavity molds. Keeping them hot was no problem. They seem to be a good compromise between «wrist-friendliness» and productivity.

I want to see how the plain base 6.5 cast bullet shoots ? ?
Best not push it too fast.

Yes, I’m thinking to explore the «low node» with conventional lube, and try a few spicier loads with powder coat. Looking forward to this!

I like the feature on the front drive band.
more bullets need that, more need it done properly.

I'm also excited by the conical transition from front band to nose on the 6,5 bullets. Cone angle is different, the 268-140 has a longer cone. We'll see how it works, I'll report when I have some experience with them.

Wow those .22 bullets look fantastic. I wonder if they would work well in an AR, I have been shooting cast in the AR 300 BO and like it but do not have any moulds for .225.

Yes, I do like the look of them! I have very little experience with cast in the. 223, but I am looking forward to trying these bullets. I can not, however, tell you how they work in an AR since I don 't have one- but others here probably can.

I've not posted replies to your 6.5 threads, but please know that I appreciate them a great deal and have been following. I'm a fan of the 6.5x55 (the king of that caliber) and am enjoying your reports.

Always like seeing new moulds regardless of the caliber.:)

Thank you, Jeff H! The 6,5x55 is indeed a well balanced, versatile and generally pleasant cartridge. I will write updates when I have had a chance to shoot these bullets. Could be some weeks, though; many other things happening this spring.

I'll post my results when I have had a chance to try them. Might be a few weeks though, a bit tight schedule this spring. Good luck!
