New N.O.E. Pass through sizing dies

Hi Guys,
I see that NOE has a line of pass through sizing dies available. Not much info on their site about them except the various parts. I see they have a master die body part, and have different bushings for sizing along with a push rod. I guess I'm not understanding the bushings: some are marked body and some are marked nose? Not sure I know how they are supposed to work? Are these nose first style? Can anybody fill me in?

I haven't yet looked at these on Al's site but from your description it sounds like he is now making nose sizers & probably nose first body sizers. Sounds like a great idea to me. :D I'll also see if he making Star dies.

Al's dies are configurable for nose or base through sizing or just in/out nose sizing. The link Blaster posted explains everything with lots of good pictures.

That sure is a nice rig available from NOE. Would sure a very accurate way to nose size. Have been nose sizing some bullets for various Contender barrels for years. Latest is a 414 Supermag chambered 336 Marlin. Without nose sizing the slugs have to get seated deep in the case.

Great Link…. Thanks! Understand the principals but still not sure about the nuances. So you maybe able to size the nose only?

Yes you can. So far I use my standard Lyman luber/sizer slowly adjusting the depth set until just enough of the nose gets squeezed to enter the rifling without bending the Marlin lever or having to "slam" the Contender. Have to chamber / fit it numerous times but finally you will get there. May also have to custom make the sizer die. I tend to buy any smaller size die to use as a body to open to the "custom" size I need.

I was disappointed in the selections available for nose first bushings. In 6.5mm, the largest nose first was .257", I want a .266" to nose size only. Largest nose first for 45ACP was .451". The 30 cal and 35 cal bushings seemed to have plenty of sizes available, though. I had also hoped that there would be a blank flat bushing for seating gas checks only. I'm sure that more will be made available in the following year.

Probably wouldn't be a bad thing to put a bug in Al's ear! It appears that NOE is really starting to cater to us crazy cast people!

Now if he would onlly chop the nose back on the .246-104 mold to give it a flatter point and drop the weight under 100 grains so 1:10 bores can shoot it well. Don't get me wrong I'm lucky because I have a 1:9 twist but most of the other fellows who bought in find it not very accurate in the slower twists. Granted I have to burn more powder to get it shooting well & since I like to kill paper I wouldn't mind either if it was dropped back and cut a cleaner hole

Thanks for posting on this. I'm on the noe site often, but hadn't noticed the push through sizers.

I love all the bushing options in 30 and 35 cal. available. Looks like I'll be spending more money soon at noe.

I made a few similar sizer last winter. It worked well but the sizing section is low enough that the press is not at full leverage when the bullet is being sized. Works fine but takes more effort that a Lee sizer. If the die was able to have the sizing area in the threaded section of the press the leverage would make things much easier.
None of this matters if minimal sizing of being done but don't expect to size a bullet down .003 and seat a check without some significant force on the press handle.
