I bought a left-handed Savage rifle in some caliber I didn't care about just for a build. Grab a pawn-shop special for the action, ditch the stock for a Boyd's of your choice, swap the barrel out, glass bed it, stick a scope on it and you're set.

Sounds familiar... I have an older 110 in the garage, scattered into its base components. There are some really cheap Boyd long and short action stocks right now on Gunbroker, some are around $60.00 or so. Also a used LH McMillan the last time I looked.
