Well I was able to pick up the Bisley 45 today. Overall pretty happy with the gun. Fit and finish are good, not great. I love the feel of the Bisley grip frame. My first. The trigger is just over 3 1/2lbs. The bummer is I can’t even get a .451” bullet to start to enter the throats. I’ll have my new pin gauge set tomorrow. Looks like I’ll be sending the cylinders off to DougGuy.
The holster I bought is from a company out of Prescott AZ. www.simplyrugged.com60DD5779-097D-485F-9AAA-F9D0D224515E.jpegA329AFAF-6510-4CA2-A8B1-642BE2FB25B0.jpeg

You'll feel much better about that if you'll look at it as how better that is than too big. :) Taking some metal out is really easy. Putting it back not so much.

True. I just slugged one of the throats. .4506"

Now slug the bore and when ya have the throats done have them match the groove diameter, Walter will be a happy camper. BTW, I'm goin into video withdrawl here, isn't it about time for a new one? Or two?

Indeed way past due. Weather is getting better. Hope to get some new vids out soon. I know it's been a long time...:embarrassed:

Okay Steve. I just checked one of the Colt throats and got .451" on the money.

Gotta use dead-soft lead, Walter, and a vee-block gauge and some math unless the barrel has an even number of grooves (my Ruger .45 has five grooves).

I don’t see having the throats honed out to .4525” being a bad thing. Am I missing something?

Congrats on the acquisition!

Really like the low style hammer. Have one for the bh but need to fit it.

Give .451 a try first? If they work well then leave it alone. You do have a .451 sizer, right?

So the dummy round I made up was with the Lee 300 grain round nose flat point mold. I just went out to the shop and grabbed one of the RCBS 270 single action Army loads size to .452 inches and that chambered just fine. I will probably go ahead and shoot these and see how they work.
