JW, you can purchase a proper die on eBay if you get an RCBS TC die made in the 80s, and the
two digit date is stamped on the end. Or Lee still makes them, too. Just don't get the 'factory crimp
die" it is either a specialized inward crimp sort of collet disk die, or a TC with a carbide sizing ring
in the base which can be a real mess sometimes with straight case cartridges and large diam cast,
sizing down your carefully made and sized bullets after the are seated.

Here you go:
eBay 382648729291 a 1979 made RCBS die which should be perfect.

Or just spend ten bucks on the Lee taper-crimp die and be done worrying about it. Sometimes the correct tool actually does exist.

Jim, spend the money on the lathe. You know how people like those that frequent his forum love saving 20 bucks by spending 1000s.

Yep, spend $4K so you can make a $10-20 die.....that you can buy.

Just because I did it, don't assume it is for everyone. And I have made a couple of other
things.

Used to make expensive toys for Uncle Sam, in a business where money really was
no object. Perhaps I got infected there and didn't even know it at the time.

And a collet set, and a knurling tool, and.............

The list is apparently endless, near as I can tell.

But those are all things that just lead to more savings.

Ian obviously doesn’t work in sales.

The economic version of "We had to destroy it in order to save it." Yeah, I was a .gov wonk for a time too.
