New toy

Gonna make this fast. I'm alive and well and busy as hell. WIll take time later to share what has been going on with me this last year. Just wanted to show off our new toy. I found it on eBay and had a couple local guys who work for Skanska drive to Roanoke Va and pick it up, bring it back and install it. It's a radial arm drill, 12" column, 4' arm. 5 hp spindle motor, 3 hp arm elevation motor. Rated to drill a 2" hole in mild steel. Wanted to take a lot of the drilling load off our CNC machines. A lot of stuff we make needs a big hole put in it as the initial step, we can drill with this instead of drilling on a lathe or mill. And this bad boy WILL put a hole in something right quick now!

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Great to see you Keith! That's a monster! I'd love to see some pics of the completed "Mad Scientists Laboratory"!

Now if you could track down that huge shaper you used to run at Bucyrus Erie you could contract battleship parts. Might need a bigger forklift though.

Nice to hear from you again, Keith! Hope you are well.
Nice, new hole-maker you've got there! Can it make holes in deer?

Looks almost new. Was guessing that it wasn't a garage sale find.

I don't even want to buy the twist drills for that. Wait, I already have a few. I think up to 2" or 2-1/2" can't remember which.

Keith, it's really nice to see that you're doing well and enjoying your new digs.

Looks like more machinery has been added, since the shop was finished.

Shop I worked at when just off the farm had an older model just like that as well as one at least 1 1/2 times as large. Slap a quick change in the spindle and you can get a lot of work done.

Nice looker, I've run a few of those in the past fifty years. some smaller some way bigger. Not my favorite machine to run but they are quick to set up and will make a lot of holes in a hurry. Maybe a few more shots of your shop?.
