New Years Eve

So what is everyone doing on New Years Eve. The wife and I stopped going out about 40 years ago. We just make a nice little dinner and spend the night at home.
After running a bar for 28 years, we decided that New Years Eve is amateur's night out.

Many years ago I made it a hard to rule to not even get near a road on News Years Eve. Could well be why I am still here. Amateur night is right, bad enough with the normal drunks out but then add in all the folks that normally don't drink much and can't handle it and . . . .

But happy new years to everyone no matter what your plans are. Stay safe.

When I get home from work I'm unrolling the fire hoses and checking the backup genset (electric pump). Amateur night with fireworks and a popcorn dry countryside is typical this time of year and I haven't left my property from after work through the next daylight in 12 years. If I want to see the fireworks show and listen to music (choice of Tejano or Korntry) all I gotta do is get on the roof.

Staying home with the Mrs., going to download all the data on personal and business accounts from the bank and credit union, I can get a full year today, if I wait until tomorrow January 2019 data isn't available online. Going to eat some leftover sausage/potato/cheese casserole for supper, but that's fine 'cause the first time it was really good and nuking it won't hurt it any. Definitely staying off the road from now until tomorrow morning. Several local businesses sponsor a ride service, if you're too drunk to drive you can call them for a free ride home, but there are still enough clueless dudes (mostly) to keep the cops and wreckers busy. Fine, I'll stay out of their way.

A safe and fulfilling 2020 to everybody here. My only resolution is to work smarter, and be kinder to everyone around me.

Pretty much the same here; We are not party go-ers.
Normal winter night: I made super for the Mrs & I Then maybe a glass or 2 of wine watching some TV
I will be in bed by 8 - 8:30 pm She will be in by 9:30-10 PM If we hear all the noise at midnight we may wake up for a kiss and a wish of Happy New Year! Then in the morning .....just another morning & a New Decade

Gdaughter bought me a new(w/tags) Brooks bros white shirt at Goodwill for $3.75 the other day. Haven't worn or owned a white shirt since a teenager? It fits perfect.

So I got cleaned up/shaved,new white shirt on,sport jacket, then me and wifey took her to Ruby Ruby Tuesday for lunch. Home,in front of fireplace enjoying the evening.

After 28 years as a firefighter/medic, you are not seeing me out. Spent too many scrapping bodies up off the road to want to get out there!

Making a nice steak dinner for the bride with special trimming for the bulldog. Bottle of bubbly sitting outside chilling. Tomorrow is the big day for family traditions, pork ribs slow cooked with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and sour cream, home canned vegetables and homemade pastries for dessert. Dad was an Appalachian Scot-Irish hillbilly, but Mom was Prussian, so you eat traditional food on new year's day.

Chicken/spagetti for din-din with spinach. Kid's in Co for ski time, reportedly saw deer in the yard where he's staying. I got the dogs, 3 legged one just goes for short walks. K-State lost to Navy but it was a pretty even game. Texas on tonite. Finished up sizing several peanut jugs of BO brass. Just a couple jugs of 308 to go. Ops, another jug of 40SW under the bench. Might have a sip of her wine during the game. Dogs will have me up early in the morning. If I'm awake at 12 it's due to fireworks waking the dogs.

Spindrift, your cabin site makes me very envious.

RicinYahima, ribs cooked in sauerkraut sound good. Been a long time since I had any. Going to have to make some this weekend.

I didn't even make it out of work before things went south for some poor someone. It appears to be a single car loss of control coming off the hill on the interstate in front of the shop, the Navigator rolled a bunch of times before ending up on the embankment behind the tree in the left foreground. Y'all be careful out there if you go.

My grandma made ribs and kraut and then used the boiling sauerkraut water to cook drop dumplings. Good memories there.

Fine with me Brad! I'm stuck in town, but don't mind really. I can see all that snow from my house, but don't want to be up there!
