You fellows rightfully mention that top punches on Lyman lube/sizers are often misaligned. That has also been my experience. However, I have solved that little problem. Whether using a Lyman or RCBS lube/sizer, I find that leaving the top punch "floating" (do NOT tighten down the set screw) works better. Of course, if you don't take steps to secure the top punch it will just fall out on the bench. Put some heavy grease around the portion of the top punch that is inserted in the sizer. The grease will hold it there but allow it to self center when used. Works quite well!

Shoot Center!

I've found that the misalignment on those sizers come more from poor fitting nose punches pushing the bullet into the die misaligned. That's why I use push through nose first dies with a flat punch against a flat bullet base. On the Star I also leave the punch free floating. The Star does have a lock nut for the punch but I've never used it.

I use my Star lube/sizer for all of my pistol bullets. I still shoot several thousand of .32's, .38's/.357's, .44's/.44 Mags, and .45 ACP/.45 Colt every years. I size ALL of my bullets nose down with a flat punch on the base. No misalignment at all with that method.
