Looking to see if anyone has any experience with this bullet for .223/5.56 in AR platforms. It's hard to find molds for this caliber much less other right now. These are available. Appreciate any feedback one this or any other mold I should be looking for. Twist will be from 1-7 to 1-9. Thanks!

I have no experience with AR rifles, but have used this bullet in my 1:12 .223 bolt gun, with good accuracy. Good results with both PC and regular lube.

60gn RN NOE .225 3 cavity mold, (pretty sure those are specs - been a while since I actually looked at the mfg stamp - it is NOE for sure lol) works like a charm, I'll snap a pic of the mold when I get home if you want but you probably already got a pic of it on the site. Not the same one you looking at but as far as the mfg and that size dia, I got no complainants at all.

I have not started with my 223's yet, but I have a Saeco #221 at 60 grains that I'm want to work up this winter. So, I will be following this thread in the hopes of so loading tips. Probably will be PCing these.

Gman,
Peruse the sale forum -- Brad has a lot of moulds listed (2 or 3 listings) and many are .22s.

I have the 225-55@62 gr . It is exceptional in 1-12 222 and usable in 223 both gas and bolt guns .

Qualifier here the 222 is a very easy to shoot well rifle with whatever 50 gr factory load falls on my foot , it came with at least a full box of RP , FC , Win and Hornady . Brass was wasn't available at the time so I added 5 boxes of PPU . What a glorious .5 MOA rifle . It's about .75" with the 225-55/62 at 2640 fps which is in the core of the jacketed 62 gr data .
The gas guns with 1-8 twists have given me slightly better than jacketed 55 gr groups but at significantly lower speeds of 2050 fps . In the bolt guns where I went for 22 mag levels they were very good but no better that the 2" gas guns when sharing that load . I have considered a powder change but I suspect it's more barrel quality and twist than powder curve . Unique readily reaches 2200 fps but of course won't cycle gas guns .

noe 60g.jpgnoe 60g2.jpg Here's a pic of the one I use for my cast 223, it drops .225 and I size to .224 face may be a little hard to see but it is cut very nice.

Appreciate the input from everyone! I’m sure I’ll have some questions as I go down this rabbit hole. Couple of my younger coworkers have been asking if I could load some ammo for them. I made an offer if they were willing to try cast I would buy the mold. They didn’t hesitate lol!

Just an update, so far I have held around 2650fps on the above cast 223- poly coat no gas check- with excellent accuracy at 100 yards (also had my brother test some and he had same results - he is better shot than I am) was cold and wet so i didn't take any pics but will on the next run, going to try and push up to 2800, if I can get as good of results from these i will post some pics, load data and alloy data. I don't think I will push any further, if I can hold around 2800 that is plenty for target shooting.

the first time I started doing that I got told I couldn't do that even though I was doing it and they were standing right there watching me do it.

Hrpenley, what twist is your rifle?

My 80's Featherweight I think is a 1-12, and have hopes of it stabilizing the Seaco 221. Got a new Remington 700 tactical 20" bull barrel that has a 1-9, but, I like the Winchester. So the Remington will go down the road if the Winchester works out.

I have been told pretty much the same, the bullet config is not that far off the jacketed and I figure I just have to alloy it to keep from spinning itself apart. Why should it not fly nearly as true as the jacket? so far so good. (however I have had them powder right out of the gun at full velocity) but I am working on that too.

I think its a 1-9 but it may be 1-12 it was from my 21" barrel. I will check tonight when I get home.

Same load that was making just over 3,000 fps in a 24" barrel 1:9 fired from a really crappy 14.5" 1:7 barrel using a 4 MOA red dot. 240,000 rpm from the 9-twist, who knows what from the 7". That was air-cooled wheelweight alloy, by the way, and I see bullet holes, not grey puffs. A tiny bit of tin and keeping them under half a million RPM......together with making ammunition to fit the rifles....keeps the bullets true enough to group decently.
